Movement in Refuge (MiR) is inviting applications for a remote Visual Storyteller Intern (Video Editor) position for creative professionals, students, and early-career filmmakers passionate about humanitarian storytelling.

The internship provides an opportunity to use video editing skills to highlight the impact of sport and movement programmes supporting conflict-affected communities, particularly refugees living in some of the world’s most challenging humanitarian settings.

Founded through work with Rohingya refugee communities along the Bangladesh-Myanmar border, MiR uses sport, physical activity, and movement training to promote physical and mental wellbeing while creating safe and structured opportunities for vulnerable populations.

The selected intern will help transform raw field footage into meaningful visual stories that reach donors, international partners, advocacy networks, and humanitarian audiences worldwide.

Movement in Refuge believes that sport and movement can support healing, resilience, and connection for communities affected by conflict and displacement.

Working alongside Bangladeshi partner organization Sports for Hope and Independence (SHI), MiR delivers structured coaching programmes for women, girls, men, and boys in refugee communities.

The organization collaborates with trainers from Bangladeshi universities specializing in physical education and sports science. It also works toward building academic partnerships and strengthening connections with humanitarian and development networks.

Through storytelling and communications, MiR aims to ensure that the experiences, achievements, and voices of affected communities are represented responsibly and effectively.

Role Responsibilities

The Visual Storyteller Intern will support MiR’s communications efforts by creating engaging video content for multiple platforms.

Key responsibilities include:

• Editing raw footage from field programmes, events, and organizational activities.
• Producing short-form and long-form videos for social media, fundraising campaigns, and communications materials.
• Creating content adapted for platforms such as Instagram, YouTube, donor presentations, and partnership proposals.
• Supporting campaign videos, programme updates, and event highlights.
• Organizing and maintaining a library of edited video assets.
• Ensuring all video content follows safeguarding and child protection standards.
• Applying ethical storytelling principles when representing vulnerable communities.
• Suggesting creative approaches and new formats for sharing MiR’s impact.

The intern will work closely with the Social Media Lead, Creative Focal Point, and MiR leadership team to ensure all visual content aligns with the organization’s identity and mission.

Flexible Remote Internship Opportunity

This is a fully remote internship requiring a commitment of 5–20 hours per week for a minimum of four months.

The schedule is flexible, allowing interns to balance their work alongside academic studies, employment, or other professional commitments.

Although the position is unpaid, it provides valuable professional experience, portfolio development, and exposure to international humanitarian communications.
