Intercultural Leadership and Project Development Coach: Global Remote Opportunity with the Marshall Legacy Institute| Deadline 1 Sept 2026

The Marshall Legacy Institute (MLI), in collaboration with UNESCO, is inviting applications for three Intercultural Leadership and Project Development Coaches to support emerging leaders participating in the Youth for Peace: Intercultural Leadership Programme. This fully remote opportunity offers professionals with experience in youth development, community projects, civic engagement, leadership or intercultural dialogue the chance to mentor a new generation of global changemakers.
The 12-month programme will run from October 1, 2026, to September 30, 2027, with applications closing on September 1, 2026.
A Global Remote Coaching Opportunity
The Intercultural Leadership and Project Development Coach role is designed for professionals who can provide practical mentorship and project-development support to emerging leaders working across cultures and communities.
Coaches will work with a cohort of 10 emerging leaders between the ages of 25 and 45, helping them develop and implement community-based initiatives. The 2026 programme theme is “Human Connection and Dialogue in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.”
This theme places particular emphasis on how intercultural dialogue, human connection and responsible technology can contribute to stronger communities and more peaceful societies.
The position is remote and open globally, making it potentially attractive to professionals who have experience working with international or multicultural teams.
What Will the Coach Do?
The selected coaches will have an active mentoring role throughout the programme. Rather than providing occasional advice, they will work closely with participants as they develop their ideas into practical community initiatives.
Key responsibilities include conducting bi-weekly check-ins and monthly one-on-one coaching sessions with assigned participants. Coaches will help emerging leaders navigate challenges, develop their leadership skills and remain focused on achieving their project objectives.
They will also provide support with project and proposal development, including project design, budget planning, monitoring and evaluation. This means candidates should be comfortable helping others transform ideas into structured and achievable projects.
Another important responsibility will be facilitating seven virtual peer-exchange sessions. These sessions will encourage participants to learn from one another, strengthen collaboration and develop solutions to shared challenges.
Focus on Intercultural Dialogue and Ethical AI
A distinctive feature of the programme is its focus on intercultural dialogue and artificial intelligence.
Coaches will help participants apply intercultural dialogue tools to their projects while encouraging them to consider ethical questions surrounding AI and technology.
Candidates therefore need more than traditional mentoring or project-management experience. They should also demonstrate an understanding of ethical AI and responsible technology use.
Experience working across different cultures and international environments will be particularly valuable because participants are expected to come from diverse backgrounds.
Who Can Apply?
The opportunity is aimed at experienced professionals with a background in areas such as social sciences, education, international development, leadership, youth development, civic engagement or related fields.
Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree, while a master’s degree is preferred. The programme also requires approximately 3–5 years of experience in areas such as community project implementation, youth development, civic engagement or intercultural dialogue.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate experience with project design, monitoring budgets, managing grant-funded initiatives and identifying potential risks.
Strong virtual facilitation skills are also important. Since the programme is delivered online, successful applicants will need reliable high-speed internet and the flexibility to work across different time zones.
Professional fluency in spoken and written English is required. Knowledge of additional languages is considered an advantage.
Compensation and Time Commitment
The role requires approximately 20 hours per month on average, although the workload may increase during key stages such as project development and reporting.
Successful coaches will receive a total stipend of USD $5,000 for the 12-month programme, subject to completion of the required deliverables.
Beyond the financial compensation, the opportunity provides exposure to an international network of emerging leaders, professionals and experts working in intercultural dialogue and peacebuilding.
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
This position could be particularly valuable for professionals interested in combining leadership development, international development, youth engagement, technology and peacebuilding.
Coaches will not only mentor participants but also contribute to projects exploring how communities can strengthen human connection and dialogue at a time when artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming society.
The experience could also strengthen a professional’s international coaching, facilitation, project-management and intercultural communication portfolio.
How to Apply
Interested candidates should prepare a cover letter and resume and submit them by email to info@marshall-legacy.org with the subject line “Application for Intercultural Leadership Coach position.”
The application deadline is September 1, 2026. Interviews are scheduled to take place between September 15 and 26, 2026, with the programme beginning on October 1, 2026.
With only three coaching positions available, professionals who meet the requirements are encouraged to apply early and clearly demonstrate their experience in mentoring, project development, intercultural engagement and responsible technology.
