Nutrition International is seeking an experienced Technical Advisor – Maternal and Newborn Health and Nutrition (MNHN) to join its team in Nairobi, Kenya. About the NOURISH Investment

The successful candidate will support the NOURISH (Nurture the Ecosystem, Optimize the Market, Unlock Financing, Reinforce ANC Platforms, Integrate and Scale MMS and Calcium for Healthy Futures) initiative.

Funded by the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), NOURISH is a multi-country programme designed to accelerate the large-scale adoption of Multiple Micronutrient Supplementation (MMS) and strengthen calcium supplementation systems across Africa.

The initiative works closely with governments and partners to strengthen maternal nutrition services, improve health systems, enhance local product availability, and promote sustainable financing for maternal health programmes.

About the Role

The Technical Advisor will provide high-level technical expertise to ensure NOURISH activities are evidence-based, effectively implemented, and aligned with programme objectives.

Working closely with consortium partners and Nutrition International teams, the advisor will contribute to programme implementation, technical learning, stakeholder engagement, monitoring, and reporting while supporting maternal nutrition initiatives across multiple African countries.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

• Provide technical guidance for programme implementation and partner work plans.
• Support evidence-based decision-making and technical problem solving.
• Develop technical briefs, reports, presentations, and knowledge products.
• Contribute to programme learning and knowledge-sharing activities.
• Represent Nutrition International during technical meetings and stakeholder engagements.
• Strengthen partnerships with governments, consortium members, and development partners.
• Support programme monitoring, reporting, and performance management.
• Review implementation progress and recommend programme improvements.
• Provide technical mentorship to consultants, partners, and junior staff when required.

Required Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

• A Master’s degree (or higher) in Nutrition, Public Health Nutrition, Maternal Health and Nutrition, International Development, or a related field.
• At least seven years of progressively responsible technical experience in international development, nutrition, public health, or health systems strengthening.
• More than five years of experience supporting maternal nutrition programmes, particularly those involving Multiple Micronutrient Supplementation (MMS) and calcium supplementation.
• Experience implementing nutrition programmes in one or more African countries.
• Strong understanding of health systems strengthening and programme implementation.
• Experience translating research evidence into practical programme delivery.
• Knowledge of monitoring, evaluation, learning, and donor reporting processes.
• Experience preparing technical reports, guidance documents, and knowledge products.

Skills and Competencies

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of results-based management and performance measurement frameworks.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Outstanding organizational and project management abilities.

• Cultural sensitivity and the ability to work effectively across diverse environments.
• French language skills are considered an advantage.
