Research Associate Role Supporting Global Health Evidence

The Research Associate will work closely with the Head of Research to support the planning, implementation, analysis, and communication of DMI’s research and evaluation activities.

Key Responsibilities of the Research Associate

The Research Associate will support a wide range of research activities, including:

Conducting Data Analysis

The post holder will analyze formative and evaluation data using statistical methods and research software.

Responsibilities include:

• Conducting analysis of randomized controlled trials.
• Supporting quasi-experimental evaluations.
• Applying methods such as difference-in-differences, interrupted time series, and matching-based approaches.
• Interpreting findings and contributing to research communication.

Developing Research Outputs

The Research Associate will contribute to producing high-quality research materials, including:

• Technical reports.
• Academic journal articles.
• Scientific publications.
• Research summaries for wider audiences.

The role requires the ability to communicate complex findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Supporting International Research Activities

The successful candidate will work with DMI teams and external research partners to support research activities in programme countries.

Strengthening Research Capacity

Qualifications and Experience Required

DMI is looking for candidates with strong academic backgrounds and analytical capabilities.

Applicants should have:

• A Master’s degree in a relevant discipline, such as:
  • Epidemiology.
  • Public health.
  • Health economics.
  • Social sciences.
  • Statistics.
  • Biomedical sciences.
• Practical experience using statistical analysis software such as:
  • Stata.
  • SPSS.
  • R.
  • SAS.
• Strong information technology skills.
• Experience working with databases, questionnaires, and complex spreadsheets.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong English writing skills demonstrated through academic work, reports, or publications.

Salary, Benefits, and Employment Details

The Research Associate position offers:

• Salary: £34,000 per year, depending on experience.
• Contract: Full-time, one-year fixed-term contract with potential extension.
• Location: London, UK (Hybrid).
