About the Role
The Industry Engagement Lead will report to the Director of Industry Engagement and Partnerships and play a key role in supporting brands and retailers as they transition to preferred production systems.
Working closely with the Climate and Nature and Standards System teams, the successful candidate will help organizations adopt best practices, increase participation in sustainability initiatives, and strengthen collaboration across the global textile supply chain.
The position also includes supervising a small team while building meaningful relationships with industry stakeholders and supporting the rollout of Textile Exchange’s sustainability standards, reporting tools, and certification systems.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will oversee a broad range of activities that strengthen industry collaboration and promote sustainable transformation across the fashion sector.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with global fashion brands and retailers.
- Supporting companies in transitioning to preferred production systems.
- Encouraging participation in the Materials Benchmark and other sustainability reporting initiatives.
- Promoting Textile Exchange’s standards, certifications, and sustainability tools.
- Organizing stakeholder events, workshops, and collaborative engagement opportunities.
- Representing Textile Exchange at conferences, meetings, and industry events.
- Working closely with internal teams to improve reporting systems and stakeholder feedback mechanisms.
- Collaborating with climate, data, and industry activation teams on strategic initiatives.
- Monitoring developments in sustainability regulations and textile industry policies.
This role combines relationship management, sustainability expertise, strategic planning, and project leadership within an international nonprofit environment.
Qualifications and Experience
Textile Exchange is looking for an experienced sustainability professional with a strong understanding of the apparel and textile industry.
Applicants should possess:
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- At least six years of experience in sustainability, stakeholder engagement, or a related discipline.
- Experience working with consumer brands or retailers.
- Strong communication and partnership-building skills.
- Experience managing complex projects and meeting deadlines.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
