
Imagine Worldwide is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Global Finance Manager to join its growing international team. This fully remote role, based on the African continent, offers an opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven organization dedicated to improving literacy and numeracy outcomes for millions of children across Sub-Saharan Africa.
The Global Finance Manager will play a critical role in strengthening financial systems, ensuring compliance, and supporting the strategic growth of Imagine Worldwide’s education programs in Malawi, Sierra Leone, and Tanzania. The position reports directly to the Director of Finance and works closely with global leadership and country finance teams.

Role Overview
The Global Finance Manager will be instrumental in supporting Imagine Worldwide’s mission by overseeing accounting and financial management at the global level. The role includes implementing financial systems and procedures, ensuring compliance with organizational and donor requirements, and maintaining oversight of daily financial operations.

Key Responsibilities
The Global Finance Manager will work closely with the Director of Finance, Director of Administration, and scale country finance teams. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing global accounting and financial processes
- Overseeing project financial risks and escalating issues as required
- Managing the relationship between Imagine Worldwide and external auditors, including BDO
- Leading and coordinating the annual organizational audit
- Establishing and managing systems for EFT payments, staff expenses, and country disbursements
- Supporting the rollout of a grants management system across scale countries
- Assisting with the transition from QuickBooks to Sage Intacct
- Supporting strategic financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting
- Developing and overseeing project-level financial management policies and procedures
- Providing technical guidance on costing activities and operational planning
- Organizing and maintaining audit-ready financial documentation
- Supporting senior leadership on fraud prevention, anti-corruption, and anti-bribery controls
- Leading monthly financial reviews with country finance teams to assess budget performance
- Strengthening internal controls, including approval matrices and segregation of duties
- Coordinating donor financial reporting to ensure alignment with programmatic reports
- Overseeing balance sheet integrity, including reconciliations, accruals, and prepayments
- Supporting capacity building of country finance teams through training and coaching
Required Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- Professional accounting qualification such as CA, CA(SA), CIMA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent
- Minimum of five years’ experience in accounting and financial management roles
- At least two years’ experience working with international NGOs
- Additional relevant experience in complex or growing organizations is an advantage
Required Skills and Competencies
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong expertise in the following areas:
- Financial and Procurement Management: Implementation and management of financial systems, budgeting, and procurement
- Accounting Standards: Experience with IPSAS, US-GAAP, and IFRS
- Strategic Financial Planning and Analysis: Budget forecasting, financial analysis, and cost management
- Financial Modelling: Development and interpretation of financial models
- Risk Management and Compliance: Internal controls, audit compliance, and fraud prevention
- Donor-Funded Projects: Experience managing donor finances and reporting requirements
- Team Leadership: Proven ability to mentor, train, and support finance teams across multiple countries

- Fully remote position, based on the African continent
- Occasional regional travel to field locations may be required
