About the LegalVox Ukraine Project
The internship is part of ICMP’s Legal Unit, which operates from its headquarters and is responsible for developing legal frameworks, drafting policy documents, and strengthening ICMP’s global mandate.
A key initiative under this unit is the LegalVox Project, a recently launched program focused on providing legal guidance and support to families of missing persons. Initially centered on Ukraine, the project gathers legal questions directly from affected families and provides clear, reliable answers based on verified information.
LegalVox uses digital platforms such as Telegram, Facebook, and YouTube to share guidance, ensuring accessibility and transparency. The project plays a vital role in promoting justice, protecting rights, and fostering inclusion for families navigating complex legal systems.
Role Overview
The Legal Intern will support the Legal Advisor (Ukraine) and contribute to the success of the LegalVox Ukraine initiative. This is a hands-on role that combines legal research, communication, and documentation, offering valuable experience in an international and humanitarian context.
Interns will work closely with legal professionals and contribute to meaningful projects that directly impact families of missing persons.
Key Responsibilities
The selected intern will be involved in a range of tasks, including:
- Processing legal inquiries
- Review and organize legal questions submitted by families of missing persons
- Legal research and analysis
- Conduct in-depth research on relevant laws and policies
- Draft clear, structured written responses and reports
- Concept development
- Prepare concept notes identifying areas where ICMP can support governments and authorities
- Meeting participation
- Attend information sessions and meetings with families
- Prepare accurate minutes and summaries
- Administrative and legal support
- Assist the Legal Unit with additional tasks as required
- Support ongoing LegalVox activities and initiatives
This role provides practical exposure to legal processes, research methodologies, and international human rights work.
Candidate Requirements
ICMP is seeking motivated candidates who meet the following criteria:
- Education
- A bachelor’s degree in law, international relations, or a related field
- Language skills
- Proficiency in both English and Ukrainian (written and spoken)
- Technical skills
- Experience using Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Professional skills
- Strong legal research and analytical abilities
- Experience in report writing, such as drafting meeting minutes
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Personal qualities
- Ability to work independently with initiative and responsibility
- Attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines
- Adaptability in multicultural and multilingual environments
- Positive collaboration with diverse teams
Additional advantage:
- Prior experience in Ukrainian courts or law enforcement agencies
Internship Details
Applicants should carefully consider the following conditions before applying:
- Start date: As soon as possible
- Duration: 2 to 6 months
- Working hours: Full-time (40 hours per week, Monday to Friday)
- Location: Fully remote (home-based)
- Minimum age: 19 years
Interns are expected to maintain consistent communication with supervisors and provide notice in case of absence or unforeseen circumstances.

- Unpaid internship: This position does not offer financial compensation
- Insurance requirement: Interns must obtain and provide proof of valid medical insurance
- Equipment: ICMP does not provide office equipment for remote work
- Code of conduct: Interns must adhere to ICMP’s ethical standards and confidentiality policies
