The role is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with substantial nonprofit finance experience who is ready to take on a leadership position within a mission-driven organization supporting underrepresented entrepreneurs.

About ICA Fund

ICA Fund works to accelerate promising businesses through mentorship, mission-aligned investment and practical business support. The organization focuses on helping small businesses led by underrepresented entrepreneurs access the coaching, capital and connections they need to grow.

Through targeted acceleration workshops, operating tools and hands-on advice from experienced business operators, ICA aims to expand access to resources that can help businesses create value and strengthen communities.

The Accounting Manager will play a critical role in ensuring that the organization’s financial operations remain accurate, efficient and well-controlled as its work continues to grow.

About the Accounting Manager Role

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Accounting Manager will be a key member of ICA’s finance team.

The successful candidate will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, month-end closing, financial reporting, grant accounting, portfolio and investment finance support, audit preparation, internal controls and compliance tracking.

The role requires someone who can work independently, identify financial issues early and provide strong technical review before matters are escalated to the CFO.

The Accounting Manager will also provide direction and accountability to the Senior Staff Accountant.

Key Responsibilities

The position involves a broad range of financial responsibilities, including:

  • Leading day-to-day finance operations and close coordination.
  • Managing the month-end close process.

  • Preparing audit schedules and supporting annual audits.
  • Supporting Single Audit requirements.
  • Strengthening internal controls and finance procedures.
  • Identifying recurring errors and improving accounting workflows.
  • Using technology and approved AI tools where appropriate to improve efficiency while maintaining accuracy.

The successful candidate will essentially serve as the first level of financial review, helping ensure that routine accounting matters are accurate and properly documented before reaching the CFO.

Qualifications

ICA is looking for an accounting professional with at least seven years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including at least four years in nonprofit accounting, grant accounting or a similarly complex environment.

Candidates should have hands-on experience with:

Experience with CDFIs, nonprofit lenders, impact investing organizations or community development finance would be an advantage.

Additional preferred experience includes loan accounting, portfolio tracking, loan loss reserves, equity impairments, covenant reporting, federal award compliance and Form 990 preparation.

Familiarity with QuickBooks, Ramp, Rippling or similar finance systems is also beneficial.

Work Arrangement

This is a hybrid position based in Oakland, California. The Accounting Manager will be expected to work in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Applications must be submitted by August 25, 2026 via email to icajobs@ica.fund.
