Policy & Advocacy Manager – IAPB (Up to $60,000/Year)

The International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) is seeking a Policy & Advocacy Manager to join its global team. This remote role, based in the United States with a preference for the East Coast, offers an exciting opportunity for professionals passionate about global eye health and international development. The position is full-time, temporary, and will run from March 30, 2026, to March 31, 2027, with a salary range of USD $52,000 to $60,000 per year.

Role Overview
The Policy & Advocacy Manager will play a critical role in advancing IAPB’s engagement with the United Nations during a pivotal period for global eye health, including preparations for the Global Summit for Eye Health 2026. This role requires a highly organized, strategic, and collaborative individual capable of working with multiple stakeholders across the UN system.
Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinating the UN Friends of Vision Member State group, serving as the main liaison for member states and UN institutions on policy and advocacy initiatives.
- Drafting letters, speeches, policy briefs, and briefing materials to support high-level UN engagements.
- Organizing advocacy events and strategic UN engagements, including side events, briefings, and visibility opportunities.
- Monitoring and analyzing UN system activities, including reform processes and post-2030 development agenda discussions, to identify advocacy opportunities for eye health.
- Supporting the development of advocacy capacity across the global eye health sector by creating guidance, tools, and coordinating shared initiatives with IAPB members.
- Collaborating with IAPB’s Communications, Knowledge, and Regional teams to raise the profile of advocacy work and provide content for internal and external communications.
- Producing project plans, milestones, and key outcomes for policy and advocacy initiatives linked to UN engagement and the Global Summit for Eye Health.
Required Qualifications and Experience
IAPB seeks candidates with a strong foundation in advocacy, policy, and international development. Required qualifications include:
- Graduate degree in International Affairs, Political Science, or Public Health.
- 2–5 years of professional experience in advocacy and policy work, preferably in international development or health-related contexts.
- Knowledge of global development policies, including familiarity with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and emerging post-2030 discussions.
- Understanding of international organizations, particularly the United Nations and World Health Organization.
- Ability to work within UK/US time zones.
Desirable experience includes:
- Engaging diverse actors such as government institutions, NGOs, UN agencies, and donors.
- Supporting multi-stakeholder or Member State-led initiatives within the UN system.
- Coordinating high-level political events, summits, or global advocacy campaigns.
