Professionals with strong project management experience http://globalsouthopportunities.com/ and a background in human rights, labour rights, international development, or global supply chains have an opportunity to apply for the Human Rights Due Diligence Project Manager position with Women in Informal Employment: Globalizing and Organizing (WIEGO) and HomeNet International (HNI).

This is a remote consultancy requiring candidates to be based in Nepal or Thailand. The consultancy is initially expected to run until 31 March 2027, with the possibility of extension subject to performance and continued project funding.

About the Organizations

WIEGO is a global network supporting workers in informal employment, particularly women and people living in poverty. The organization works to improve economic opportunities, rights, and protections for informal workers through research, policy advocacy, and support for worker organizations.

HomeNet International is a global membership-based network representing more than 1.5 million home-based workers across 30 countries. It works to strengthen the visibility, recognition, organization, and collective voice of home-based workers.

Together, WIEGO and HNI work to advance the rights of workers in informal employment and influence policies affecting their livelihoods and working conditions.

About the Project

The Human Rights Due Diligence Project Manager will coordinate an international initiative focused on strengthening human rights due diligence for women homeworkers working in global garment supply chains.

The project responds to challenges surrounding the extension of corporate due diligence beyond first-tier suppliers. Many home-based workers remain difficult to identify within complex supply chains, limiting their access to protections and accountability mechanisms.

Funded by Sida, the initiative will work with partners in Bangladesh and Pakistan while supporting regional and global advocacy.

The project will focus on three main areas:

  • Building evidence on home-based work through spatial mapping of production clusters.
  • Developing and testing cluster-based governance models.
  • Strengthening regional movement building and worker-centred approaches to due diligence.
  • Advancing global advocacy on corporate accountability and human rights due diligence.

About the Role

The Project Manager will coordinate delivery of the project across multiple countries and organizations.

Working closely with WIEGO, HNI, and national partners, the successful candidate will ensure activities are delivered on schedule, within budget, and according to agreed standards.

The role combines project management, partnership coordination, monitoring and learning, donor reporting, financial oversight, and communications.

It is therefore suited to an experienced project professional who can manage complex initiatives while building effective working relationships with multiple stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring milestones and project deliverables.

  • Coordinating regular partner meetings and learning exchanges.
  • Supporting partners with planning, implementation, and reporting.
  • Maintaining monitoring and results-tracking systems.
  • Supporting evidence collection and documentation of lessons learned.
  • Coordinating internal project reviews.
  • Preparing and coordinating donor reports to Sida.
  • Reviewing partner reports and project updates.
  • Monitoring donor compliance and reporting deadlines.
  • Tracking project expenditure against approved budgets.
  • Supporting financial forecasting and budget management.
  • Coordinating contracts and consultant processes.
  • Organizing workshops, meetings, and learning events.
  • Preparing agendas, minutes, and action trackers.
  • Supporting project communications and knowledge management.

The position requires strong attention to detail because the successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating multiple workstreams and ensuring that commitments are followed through.
