About the Fundraising Officer Role

The Fundraising Officer will serve as HCI’s primary representative within the Vancouver community. Working closely with the Fundraising Manager, the successful candidate will lead outreach activities, organize community events, recruit volunteers, and identify new funding opportunities.

This is a permanent full-time position requiring 37.5 hours per week, with occasional evening, weekend, and travel commitments.

Key Responsibilities

The Fundraising Officer will contribute across several important areas.

Community Outreach and Relationship Building

Responsibilities include:

• Representing HCI at community events and public engagements.
• Building strong relationships with donors, partners, and community leaders.
• Increasing brand awareness through strategic community outreach.
• Managing outreach calendars, workshops, and speaking engagements.
• Identifying and engaging high-net-worth individuals.
• Building partnerships with schools, colleges, and universities.
• Collaborating with local NGOs and community organizations.

Fundraising

The successful candidate will:

• Develop and implement fundraising campaigns.
• Increase donor engagement through online giving, direct mail, peer-to-peer fundraising, and major gift initiatives.

• Analyze donor trends to improve fundraising strategies.

Event Management

Key duties include:

• Planning and delivering community fundraising events.

Volunteer and Youth Engagement

The Fundraising Officer will:

• Recruit, train, and support volunteers.

Qualifications

Human Concern International is seeking candidates who possess:

• A post-secondary qualification in fundraising, event planning, project management, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
• Experience in fundraising, sales, or nonprofit event planning.
• A strong background in community engagement and volunteer work.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities.
• The ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Fluency in English.
• Knowledge of French or another language is considered an asset.
• A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
