About the Human Resources Fellowship

Earthworks is seeking a Human Resources Fellow to support the organization’s full employee lifecycle while gaining valuable professional experience in the environmental advocacy sector.

Reporting to the Director of Talent and Equity, the Fellow will operate as an HR generalist and assist with a wide range of responsibilities, including recruitment, onboarding, benefits support, compliance, employee communications, and workplace policies.

This fellowship is ideal for candidates who are passionate about people operations, workplace equity, and supporting mission-driven organizations.

Fellowship Details

The Human Resources Fellowship is a temporary, full-time position with the following details:

• Start date: October 5, 2026
• End date: March 5, 2027
• Duration: Five months
• Work schedule: 40 hours per week
• Location: Fully remote within the United States
• Compensation: $2,500 per two-week pay period

Although this position is not eligible for employee benefits, the Fellow will receive paid time off according to Earthworks policies, along with mentorship and professional development support.

Key Responsibilities

The HR Fellow will support several areas of human resources, including:

• Assisting with recruitment and hiring processes
• Supporting employee onboarding and offboarding activities
• Helping manage benefits administration
• Maintaining employee records and HR documentation
• Supporting HR compliance activities
• Assisting with policy implementation
• Contributing to employee communications
• Responding to workplace needs and employee inquiries
• Supporting positive employee experiences throughout the organization

The Fellow will gain exposure to practical HR functions while working alongside experienced nonprofit professionals.

Required Qualifications

Applicants should have:

• One to three years of experience in a human resources or talent-related role, including internships or coursework
