About OceanHub Africa
OceanHub Africa is Africa’s leading enabler of ocean-impact entrepreneurship, dedicated to building a financially viable Blue Economy across the continent. More than an accelerator, OceanHub Africa acts as a strategic partner to ambitious founders—helping them de-risk, scale, and access capital to drive meaningful environmental and commercial impact.
The organization works exclusively with high-potential, for-profit startups that are actively preserving and restoring ocean health. Through a tailored, founder-centric acceleration model, OceanHub Africa supports ventures tackling some of the most urgent ocean challenges, including climate change, pollution, overexploitation of marine resources, and biodiversity loss.
A Tailored Acceleration Model: Support, Connect, Invest
OceanHub Africa’s approach to acceleration is built on three integrated pillars designed to move startups from promise to scale.
Support
Participants receive specialized, hands-on expertise to address their most pressing growth challenges. Rather than generic training, startups benefit from:
- Targeted strategies from Entrepreneurs-in-Residence
- One-on-one guidance from sector-specific experts
- Practical tools to strengthen business models, operations, and impact measurement
This tailored support ensures founders are equipped to make informed decisions at critical stages of growth.
Connect
OceanHub Africa plugs startups directly into a global blue economy ecosystem, offering access to:
- Impact investors and venture capital funds
- Multinational corporate partners
- Blue economy and climate experts
- A strong peer network of ocean-impact entrepreneurs
These connections help founders unlock partnerships, pilot opportunities, and long-term market access.
Invest
The program supports startups along the full funding journey by:
- Providing early-stage capital to a select group of participants and alumni
- Delivering intensive investor-readiness support
- Facilitating direct introductions to a diverse portfolio of impact investors toward the end of the program
Proven Results and Measurable Impact
Since its inception, OceanHub Africa has demonstrated strong results. As of Cohort 5, startups in its portfolio have collectively raised over USD $15.5 million in funding.
Through its acceleration efforts, OceanHub Africa supports ventures working across four core ocean-impact areas:
- Sustainable Blue Food
- Clean Ocean Energy
- Solutions to Marine and Coastal Pollution
- Low-Carbon Transport and Port Systems
These focus areas align commercial success with environmental stewardship and climate resilience.
