HERA is seeking a talented and creative Social Media Associate to support its global communications and digital storytelling efforts. The successful candidate will help grow HERA’s online presence, create compelling content about climate change and women’s rights, and support global campaigns focused on protecting women affected by extreme heat.

Established in 2023, HERA is a global nonprofit organization working to protect the health, income, and dignity of women living on the frontlines of extreme heat and climate change.
The organization was founded by four women leaders who recognized the urgent need to address the unequal impacts of climate change on women and vulnerable communities.
In its first two years, HERA raised more than $20 million to expand its programmes and currently operates in eight countries:

About the Social Media Associate Role
The Social Media Associate will report to the Communications Director and support HERA’s digital communications strategy across multiple platforms.
This role involves managing daily social media activities, creating engaging multimedia content, tracking performance analytics, and transforming complex climate, health, and gender issues into accessible stories for global audiences.
The ideal candidate will be a strong writer, creative storyteller, and organized digital communicator who understands social media trends and audience engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media Strategy and Management
The Social Media Associate will:
- Develop and manage a global social media content calendar.
- Coordinate content across platforms including:
- X/Twitter
- TikTok
- YouTube
- Support digital strategy development and audience growth.
- Monitor social media trends and emerging storytelling practices.
- Coordinate content approvals and publishing schedules.
Copywriting and Storytelling
Responsibilities include:
- Writing engaging and persuasive social media content.
- Transforming complex topics into clear digital narratives.
- Maintaining HERA’s brand voice and messaging.
- Creating stories that increase awareness, engagement, and support for campaigns.
- Adapting content for different audiences and cultural contexts.
Multimedia Content Creation
The role will also involve:
- Creating graphics, videos, social cards, and digital campaign materials.
- Producing short-form content such as reels and videos.
- Using creative tools including:
- Canva
- Adobe Creative Suite
- CapCut
- Figma
- Coordinating with photographers, designers, video editors, and external vendors.
- Supporting social media coverage during events and campaigns.
Community Engagement and Analytics
The successful candidate will:
- Monitor audience interactions and engagement.
- Support digital community growth.
- Analyze social media performance.

Required Qualifications
Candidates should have:
- 2–4 years of experience in social media management, communications, digital content creation, advocacy campaigns, or related fields.
- Excellent writing and editing skills.
- Strong storytelling abilities.
- Experience managing social media platforms.
- Ability to create content for global audiences.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Experience using social media tools and analytics platforms.
Preferred experience includes:
- Nonprofit communications.
- Climate change advocacy.
