About the International Philanthropy Manager Role
The International Philanthropy Manager will be responsible for designing and implementing the Global Fundraising Strategy in areas related to major giving.
This includes strategic partnerships, institutional funders, individual major donors, legacy giving and capital campaigns.
One of the major initiatives associated with the role is a €100 million capital campaign for a new ship, alongside Greenpeace’s Priority Global Funders strategy.
The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership to Greenpeace International and its independent National and Regional Organizations (NROs), helping strengthen fundraising capabilities across the global network.
Key Responsibilities
A central responsibility will be leading the design and implementation of Greenpeace’s global fundraising strategy for major giving.
The manager will oversee the Key Relationships area of the strategy, monitor its implementation and provide advice to fundraising staff and leaders across the Greenpeace network.
The role will also involve collaboration across departments to ensure that fundraising strategies are integrated with wider organizational priorities.
Other responsibilities include:
- Leading a multidisciplinary international fundraising team.
- Setting objectives and supporting staff performance and development.
- Providing strategic fundraising advice to national and regional offices.
- Supporting NROs in developing philanthropy and legacy strategies.
- Helping recruit and onboard senior fundraising professionals.
- Building relationships with donors and other stakeholders.
- Developing major funding proposals and fundraising campaigns.
- Supporting cross-functional fundraising initiatives.
- Managing budgets and internal resources.
- Overseeing income from major donors, priority funders and legacy gifts.
- Supporting global fundraising policies and systems.
- Acting as product owner for the key relationships CRM.
Leadership and Team Management
This is a senior leadership position requiring significant experience managing people and complex fundraising programs.
The successful candidate will manage a multidisciplinary team that includes the Global Capital Campaign Director and two Global Philanthropy Managers, as well as contractors.
The role requires someone capable of motivating teams, establishing clear objectives, coaching employees and creating a collaborative environment where fundraising professionals can perform at their best.
Strong co-leadership and collaborative management skills are particularly important because the role involves working across departments, countries and organizational structures.
Required Experience and Qualifications
Greenpeace is seeking an experienced fundraising professional with at least seven years of senior fundraising management experience, including a minimum of four years leading international teams.
Candidates should have experience leading a capital campaign and a strong record of developing successful proposals for major funders.
