Calling All Grant Professionals: Grants Specialist – Madison Square Boys & Girls Club Foundation | Hybrid, New York | Up to $85K/Year

The Madison Square Boys & Girls Club Foundation is seeking a highly organized, motivated, and detail-oriented Grants Specialist to support its growing development team and expand its fundraising capacity. This role directly contributes to the Foundation’s mission of serving thousands of young people across New York City, providing safe and supportive Clubhouses and life-changing programs in academic achievement, leadership, career readiness, and healthy lifestyles.
The ideal candidate will be a proactive team player with experience in grant research, writing, and management, comfortable navigating complex donor systems and deadlines. This position reports to the Senior Director of Institutional Giving and works closely with the Foundation’s finance, program, and development teams.
Position Overview
The Grants Specialist is responsible for supporting Madison Square Boys & Girls Club Foundation’s fundraising and grant operations by researching funding prospects, preparing and submitting proposals, managing donor and funder communications, and ensuring timely reporting. This role plays a key part in cultivating relationships with foundations, corporate donors, and government agencies, maintaining accurate records, and supporting overall development strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Grant Research and Writing
- Identify and research corporate, foundation, and government funding opportunities for programs and initiatives.
- Draft compelling letters of inquiry, grant proposals, and reports aligned with the Foundation’s mission and messaging.
- Collaborate with program and finance staff to ensure proposals accurately reflect programmatic goals and budgets.
- Maintain a centralized repository of grant-related documents and organization data.
Grant Management and Reporting
- Maintain and update grant tracking and submission calendars.
- Ensure compliance with funder requirements, including accurate documentation and timely reporting.
- Support stewardship efforts by preparing acknowledgment materials, email updates, and one-pagers for funders.
- Maintain donor and prospect histories in the CRM system (Raiser’s Edge).
Fundraising and Team Collaboration
- Assist with pipeline management of institutional giving activities.
- Support team members in fundraising events, campaigns, and donor communications as needed.
- Contribute to a culture of collaboration and professionalism within the development team.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Proven experience in nonprofit development or grant management, preferably in fast-paced mission-driven organizations.
- Strong research, writing, and editing skills, with excellent attention to detail.
- Proficiency with donor databases and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional organizational and time management abilities, with capacity to manage multiple deadlines.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, maintaining high professional standards.
Preferred:
- Experience with Raiser’s Edge or similar donor management platforms.
- Advanced Excel or data analysis skills.
- Direct grant writing experience.
- Interest in professional development and growth into advanced fundraising roles.
Other Requirements:
- Candidates must complete criminal clearance (fingerprinting), submit official transcripts, and pass TB screening.
- Flexibility to attend occasional evening events and perform physical tasks as needed.
Position Type and Hours
- Full-time, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with occasional evening or weekend work as needed.
- Hybrid work arrangement: Must be able to work in or near New York, NY.

Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive salary: $75,000 – $85,000 per year, based on experience.
