Global Youth Climate Training Programme 2026 Opens Applications for Young Climate Advocates Worldwide

The Global Youth Climate Training Programme (GYCT) 2026 is now accepting applications from young people aged 16–35 who want to strengthen their knowledge of international climate policy, climate negotiations, and practical climate advocacy.

The free, fully online programme provides an opportunity for young climate leaders, activists, students, and emerging environmental professionals to develop skills needed to participate effectively in global climate discussions.

Applications are open until 10 August 2026 at 23:59 BST.

The programme is designed to make climate education more accessible by providing expert-led sessions, online learning opportunities, and practical guidance for young people working toward climate action.

About the Global Youth Climate Training Programme 2026

The Global Youth Climate Training Programme is a capacity-development initiative focused on empowering young people with the knowledge and tools needed to understand international climate processes.

Participants will learn about:

• Global climate policy frameworks.
• International climate negotiations.
• Youth participation in climate decision-making.
• Climate advocacy strategies.
• Practical approaches for creating climate impact.

The programme is particularly valuable for young people interested in engaging with global climate platforms, including the United Nations climate process and future climate conferences.

Through interactive online sessions, participants will gain insights from climate experts and experienced youth advocates.

Programme Structure and Schedule

The 2026 programme will include two learning pathways.

The main programme will consist of four expert-led online sessions taking place from:

2 September to 22 September 2026

These sessions will be delivered in English and will include:

• Closed captions.
• Some live language interpretation support, including Spanish.
• Online access through digital platforms.
• Recorded sessions made available for public learning.

In addition to the main programme, a selected group of 20 participants will have access to an additional three-session pathway delivered by Global Youth Coalition (GYC) and Youth Negotiators Academy (YNA) negotiator alumni.

This additional pathway will run from:

29 September to 13 October 2026

The sessions will be delivered in English with closed captions. Unlike the main programme, these sessions will not be recorded and will not include live interpretation.

Who Can Apply?

The programme welcomes young people between the ages of 16 and 35 who are interested in climate action and advocacy.

Applicants should be able to:

• Participate in online sessions using Zoom.
• Engage with learning materials in English.
• Commit to attending at least 80% of programme activities.
• Follow the programme’s code of conduct.
• Contribute to an inclusive and respectful learning environment.

The programme is suitable for a wide range of participants, including:

• Youth climate activists.
• Environmental students and researchers.
• Community organisers.
• Young professionals working in sustainability.
• Members of climate-focused organisations.
• Individuals interested in climate policy and advocacy.

No participation fee is required, making the programme accessible to young climate leaders from different regions and backgrounds.

Participants in the Global Youth Climate Training Programme will have an opportunity to apply to stay at the GYC House in Antalya during COP31.

The COP31 climate conference represents an important global platform where governments, organisations, researchers, and civil society groups discuss international climate action.

While participation opportunities may become available, applicants should note that additional bursary or financial support opportunities are dependent on available funding and are not guaranteed.

Applying for or completing the programme does not automatically provide financial assistance.
