The Global Resilient Cities Network (R-Cities) is seeking an experienced finance leader for the position of Lead – Finance, a full-time remote opportunity for professionals with expertise in nonprofit finance, grant management, financial strategy, and organizational growth.
This senior-level role offers the opportunity to build and lead a global finance function supporting an international network working to strengthen cities against climate change, disasters, economic challenges, and other complex urban issues.

Lead – Finance Role Overview
The Lead – Finance will provide strategic financial leadership during a period of organizational transition and growth. The successful candidate will oversee financial strategy, planning, reporting, compliance, and systems development across multiple entities and jurisdictions.
This role requires a finance professional who can combine high-level strategic thinking with strong operational knowledge, ensuring financial sustainability while strengthening internal systems and processes.
The position is remote and open to candidates located in countries where R-Cities can employ staff directly or through Employer of Record arrangements. Candidates working within GMT-5 to GMT+3 time zones are preferred.
Key Responsibilities
The Lead – Finance will oversee several critical areas, including:
Financial Strategy and Planning
Responsibilities include:
- Developing financial strategies aligned with organizational goals.
- Leading annual budgeting processes across programs and entities.
- Creating multi-year financial forecasts and scenario planning models.
- Monitoring budgets, analyzing financial performance, and advising leadership.
- Developing financial tools that support better decision-making across teams.
Grant Finance and Compliance
The role will also focus on ensuring strong financial management of restricted funding, including:
- Managing grant budgets and financial reporting requirements.
- Ensuring compliance with donor agreements and regulations.

- Collaborating with program teams on proposal costing and financial planning.
Financial Operations and Systems
The successful candidate will provide oversight of:

- Finance systems development, including cloud-based ERP systems.

Risk Management and Governance

Required Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should have significant experience leading finance functions, particularly within nonprofit or mission-driven organizations.

- At least eight years of senior finance leadership experience.
- Experience managing grants and restricted funding.
- Knowledge of financial reporting, audits, and compliance.
- Experience working across multiple legal entities and jurisdictions.
- Experience leading finance teams and organizational change.
- Strong financial modelling, forecasting, and strategic planning skills.
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly to leadership, boards, funders, and non-finance colleagues.
- Fluency in English.
