Médecins Sans Frontières Hiring Deputy Head of Global Indirect Procurement – Apply by 30 July 2026

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is seeking an experienced procurement leader to join its Global Procurement Unit (GPU) as the Deputy Head of Global Indirect Procurement. This fixed-term international position offers procurement professionals the opportunity to help shape global sourcing strategies that support MSF’s life-saving humanitarian operations across more than 70 countries.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be based at any MSF office in the applicant’s country of residence and will work on a fixed-term contract (80–100%) until 31 December 2026.

As part of MSF International’s Global Procurement Unit, the Deputy Head of Global Indirect Procurement will coordinate global procurement activities for non-medical goods and services while supporting procurement strategies across MSF’s international network.

Procurement represents nearly half of MSF’s global expenditure, making this a critical leadership role that contributes directly to the organization’s humanitarian mission.

About the Global Procurement Unit

MSF established the Global Procurement Unit to improve procurement efficiency, strengthen compliance, reduce operational risks, and create greater value across its worldwide operations.

The unit works closely with MSF sections and international platforms responsible for:

  • Human Resources
  • Information Systems Management (ISM)
  • Fundraising
  • Finance
  • Legal Services
  • International Insurance Steering Committee (IISC)

The Deputy Head will report directly to the Head of the Global Procurement Unit and collaborate with procurement teams across multiple MSF entities.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will oversee strategic procurement activities while leading a high-performing international team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating global indirect procurement strategies across MSF entities.
  • Delivering the Global Procurement Unit’s 2026 strategic objectives.
  • Supporting the development of procurement priorities for 2027.
  • Identifying improvements based on procurement performance reports.
  • Capturing procurement needs from multiple MSF entities.
  • Strengthening procurement processes and governance.
  • Managing procurement risks and stakeholder engagement.
  • Leading procurement planning and resource management.

Leadership Responsibilities

The Deputy Head will also:

  • Lead and mentor a team of up to seven procurement professionals.
  • Foster collaboration across international procurement teams.
  • Support staff development and performance management.
  • Promote a collaborative and inclusive working environment.
  • Coordinate procurement platforms and global sourcing initiatives.
  • Build strong relationships with procurement stakeholders across MSF.

Strategic Impact

The role supports procurement activities valued at approximately €441 million in annual coordinated procurement spending.

Working across 24 MSF sections, 25 associations, and multiple international offices, the successful candidate will help strengthen procurement systems that directly support emergency medical operations around the world.

Required Qualifications

MSF is seeking procurement professionals with strong leadership experience and strategic sourcing expertise.

Applicants should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of procurement experience.
  • At least 5 years of team management experience.
  • Experience managing indirect procurement categories.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working in complex, multi-entity organizations.
  • Experience leading global procurement negotiations and contracting.
  • Strong analytical and strategic planning abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.

Experience working with MSF or another humanitarian organization is highly desirable.

A good command of French is considered a strong advantage.
