About the Deputy Team Leader Role

The Deputy Team Leader is a senior management position responsible for supporting the overall leadership of the Australia-Pacific Partnerships Platform.

Working closely with the Team Leader, the successful applicant will oversee the Platform’s Support Unit and ensure the delivery of high-quality technical and strategic services across country programs.

The role also involves supervising senior specialists responsible for:

• Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Adaptation (MELA)
• Development and Inclusion
• Strategic Communications
• Knowledge Management
• Organisational Learning

The Deputy Team Leader will contribute to strategic planning, quality assurance, organisational capability development, and continuous improvement while acting as Team Leader when required.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

• Provide strategic leadership across multiple Pacific country programs.
• Manage the Platform’s shared Support Unit.
• Strengthen monitoring, evaluation, learning and adaptation systems.
• Lead organisational learning and knowledge management initiatives.
• Oversee communications and research activities.
• Promote gender equality, disability and social inclusion (GEDSI).
• Support Pacific leadership development and mentoring.
• Ensure high-quality delivery of donor-funded development programs.
• Represent the Platform in high-level stakeholder engagements when required.
• Contribute to strategic planning and organisational improvement.

Qualifications and Experience

DT Global is seeking an experienced development professional with:

• Postgraduate qualifications in international development, public policy, governance, communications, management, monitoring and evaluation, or a related discipline.
• More than 10 years of experience managing large donor-funded development programs.
• Demonstrated experience working on DFAT-funded initiatives.
• Strong leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
• Expertise in Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Adaptation (MELA).
• Experience overseeing communications and organisational learning.
• Understanding of gender equality, disability and social inclusion (GEDSI).
• Knowledge of anti-corruption principles and development effectiveness.
• Experience working in the Pacific region is highly desirable.
• Experience managing research programs and knowledge products is an advantage.
• Excellent mentoring and people development skills.
