Lead a Global Movement for Landscape Restoration and Community-Led Climate Action

The Global Landscapes Forum (GLF), in partnership with CIFOR-ICRAF, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Consultant – GLFx Coordinator to lead the strategic coordination and growth of the GLFx network, one of the world’s most dynamic communities advancing landscape restoration, biodiversity conservation, and locally led sustainable development.

This full-time remote consultancy offers a unique opportunity to work with community organizations, Indigenous Peoples, youth leaders, environmental practitioners, researchers, and development partners across Africa, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

Position: Consultant – GLFx Coordinator

Role Overview

The GLFx Coordinator will serve as the primary global focal point for the GLFx network, with a strong focus on supporting and expanding activities across Africa.

Working within the Community & Action Team, the Coordinator will collaborate closely with regional officers, youth engagement teams, communications specialists, learning experts, sustainable finance professionals, and strategic partners to strengthen the GLFx ecosystem worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership and Global Coordination

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead implementation of the GLFx global strategy
  • Ensure alignment with broader GLF and CIFOR-ICRAF priorities
  • Coordinate activities across Africa, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America
  • Strengthen collaboration among regional chapters
  • Guide chapter onboarding and membership processes
  • Support governance structures and steering committee engagement
  • Foster community ownership and inclusive participation

2. Program Development and Delivery

Responsibilities include:

  • Designing and managing flagship GLFx initiatives
  • Coordinating learning journeys and mentorship programs
  • Supporting grant opportunities and funding calls
  • Organizing workshops, conferences, and training programs
  • Developing knowledge products and collaborative initiatives
  • Facilitating exchanges among local organizations and communities

3. Community Engagement and Network Building

The Coordinator will:

  • Strengthen collaboration across landscapes and regions
  • Promote shared identity and belonging among chapters
  • Support peer learning and cross-community engagement
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration within the network
  • Build strong relationships with local and international stakeholders

4. Visibility and Communications

Working closely with communications teams, the Coordinator will:

  • Amplify stories of local leadership and restoration efforts
  • Increase visibility of GLFx chapters globally
  • Support newsletters, campaigns, and digital engagement activities
  • Promote community achievements and impact stories

5. Partnerships and Resource Mobilization

The role also includes:

  • Building strategic partnerships with donors and development organizations
  • Strengthening relationships with GLF Charter Members
  • Collaborating with CIFOR-ICRAF scientists and experts
  • Contributing to fundraising and proposal development
  • Supporting donor reporting and partnership management

6. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning

The Coordinator will:

  • Track program performance indicators
  • Support impact measurement and learning processes
  • Document lessons learned and success stories
  • Develop annual work plans and budgets
  • Ensure effective use of financial and program resources

Required Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

  • A university degree related to sustainable development, environmental studies, international development, community development, natural resource management, or similar fields
  • At least five years of relevant professional experience
  • Strong experience in community engagement and network coordination
  • Experience managing regional or global partnerships
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to coordinate geographically dispersed teams
  • Experience working across diverse cultural contexts
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Experience

Ideal candidates may also have experience in:

  • Landscape restoration initiatives
  • Climate and biodiversity programs
  • Indigenous Peoples’ rights and engagement
  • Youth-led movements and community organizing

Language Requirements

Candidates must demonstrate:

  • Fluency in English
  • Proficiency in at least one additional language, preferably:
    • French
