Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will provide leadership and oversight for LM International’s global compliance and governance framework.

Major responsibilities include:

  • Developing and strengthening global internal control systems.
  • Leading governance and compliance initiatives across multiple countries.
  • Monitoring risk exposure and implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Overseeing fraud prevention and anti-corruption frameworks.
  • Managing whistleblower mechanisms and investigations.
  • Ensuring compliance with donor regulations and international laws.
  • Supporting safeguarding policies and organizational integrity initiatives.
  • Managing procurement governance and compliance processes.
  • Advising executive leadership and the Board on compliance and risk matters.
  • Coordinating internal, external, and donor audits.

The role also involves promoting a culture of ethical conduct and continuous improvement while ensuring that operational practices align with donor expectations and organizational policies.

Leading Global Risk and Compliance Efforts

A major focus of the position is enterprise risk management. The Director will oversee the organizational risk register, identify emerging operational and reputational risks, and support crisis management and business continuity planning.

Key areas of oversight include:

  • Internal controls and governance.
  • Fraud investigations and ethics management.
  • Regulatory and legal compliance.
  • Anti-money laundering (AML) compliance.
  • Due diligence and sanctions screening.
  • Safeguarding compliance.
  • Audit coordination and corrective action management.
  • Donor compliance and grant assurance.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for strengthening compliance monitoring systems and supporting the use of digital tools for reporting, risk analysis, and governance oversight.

Qualifications and Experience Required

LM International is seeking a highly experienced professional with strong leadership capabilities and extensive knowledge of compliance frameworks within international organizations.

Required qualifications include:

  • A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Law, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as CPA, CIA, CFE, CISA, or equivalent are strongly preferred.
  • At least 10 to 15 years of relevant professional experience in compliance, risk management, internal audit, governance, investigations, or donor assurance.
  • A minimum of five years of senior leadership experience.
  • Proven experience working with institutional donors such as USAID, the European Union, Sida, UN agencies, FCDO, and the World Bank.
  • Strong knowledge of fraud investigations, enterprise risk management, and internal controls.
  • Experience operating in multi-country and high-risk environments.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of additional languages is an advantage.
