DT Global Is Hiring: Remote Project Officer to Support Social Protection Across the Pacific | 2027–2029

Are you an experienced program professional looking for an opportunity to contribute to social protection systems across Australia and the Pacific? DT Global Asia Pacific is recruiting a Project Officer to support the implementation of regional activities under the Partnerships for Social Protection (P4SP) program.

This is a full-time, remote home-based position with occasional in-person work at DT Global office locations. The role may be based in Fiji, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne or Adelaide, with flexibility for the right candidate. The contract is expected to run from January 2027 through September 2029.

About the Opportunity

The Partnerships for Social Protection program is an eight-year, AUD 36 million Australian Government initiative commissioned by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and implemented by DT Global.

P4SP works with governments across Pacific nations to strengthen national social protection systems. Its work focuses on improving the quality, inclusiveness and sustainability of social protection policies and programs while increasing awareness and demand for effective social protection.

The Project Officer will play an important role in supporting regional program activities, particularly in learning, research, engagement, communications, events and monitoring, evaluation, research, learning and adaptation (MERLA).

What Will You Do?

Working under the direction of the Deputy Team Leader, the successful candidate will contribute to the effective coordination and delivery of P4SP activities.

Key responsibilities include supporting program management and coordinating activities across learning, research, communications, event management and MERLA. The officer will also help maintain program trackers, contracts, tasking notes and other management tools.

A major focus will be supporting learning and training activities. This may include coordinating online and in-person training sessions, developing e-learning materials, organising internal learning events and working with consultants and P4SP team members.

The position will also involve providing secretariat support for meetings and events. Duties may include preparing agendas and presentations, coordinating invitations and RSVPs, communicating with participants, taking minutes and coordinating feedback.

Additional responsibilities include helping draft and finalise reports, plans, briefings, Terms of Reference and publications. The Project Officer may also support procurement, budget monitoring, forecasting, records management and whole-of-program planning and reporting.

There may be opportunities to undertake small-scale desk research, participate in technical team meetings and contribute to in-country visits across the Pacific.

Skills and Experience Required

Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as international development, social policy, public policy, project management, communications or a related discipline.

At least three years of relevant professional experience is required.

Candidates should demonstrate strong program management capabilities, excellent written and verbal English communication skills and an understanding of international development. Strong organisational, time-management and teamwork skills are also important.

The successful applicant should be comfortable working independently while also collaborating effectively with colleagues, partners and consultants.

Technical proficiency is required in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Smartsheet and Canva.

Experience working on learning and training programs, DFAT-funded development programs, social protection initiatives or Pacific-based development work would be advantageous. Previous experience working remotely is also desirable.

A Regional Development Opportunity

This position offers more than an administrative program support role. Through involvement in P4SP’s regional portfolio, the Project Officer will have an opportunity to develop deeper knowledge of social protection and international development in the Pacific.

The role will involve working with governments, development professionals, consultants and other stakeholders, providing valuable exposure to regional development programming.

Some domestic and international travel within Australia and the Pacific may be required. Occasional out-of-hours or weekend work may also be necessary.

Important Eligibility Requirement

Although the position is advertised as remote, applicants should pay close attention to the location requirements.

The successful candidate must have Australian or Fijian residency or a current work permit for the location in which they are based. Applicants will be required to provide evidence of their right to work.

Therefore, this opportunity is not a fully open international remote position for applicants who do not already have the required Australian or Fijian work rights.

Successful candidates will also be required to complete relevant police clearances, background screening, medical clearance and mandatory training before and during employment.
