About GiveWell
GiveWell is a nonprofit organization that researches and identifies opportunities where funding can have an exceptionally large impact. Its work focuses primarily on global health and development, with research and recommendations published openly so donors and other organizations can understand the evidence and reasoning behind its decisions.
The organization has experienced significant growth in recent years. GiveWell directed more than $400 million in 2025 and expects its annual grantmaking to approach or exceed $1 billion in 2026. This expansion has increased the need for strong operational systems and skilled professionals who can help the organization scale effectively.
Multiple Operations Roles Available
GiveWell is recruiting across several Operations functions, with opportunities available at Coordinator, Specialist, Associate, and Senior levels. The organization expects to hire multiple people through this recruitment process.
Grants Administration: Associates and Senior Associates will help manage grants from the initial handoff from Research through due diligence, contracts, payments, reporting, and record management. The role also involves improving administrative systems and collaborating with Research Operations, Finance, Legal, and Outreach teams.
People Operations: Coordinators and Specialists will support employee lifecycle processes, payroll, benefits, leave management, international employment, immigration and mobility, policies, and internal People Operations systems.
Talent Acquisition: Talent Acquisition Coordinators will support recruitment from beginning to end. Responsibilities include reviewing applications, conducting screening calls, coordinating interviews and work trials, sourcing candidates, improving recruitment systems, and responding to candidates.
Technology: Technology Coordinators and Specialists will provide IT support, manage software licenses and vendor accounts, assist with onboarding and offboarding, troubleshoot technical problems, train staff, and contribute to technology improvement projects.
AI Enablement: AI Enablement Specialists will help GiveWell adopt artificial intelligence effectively by developing training materials, exploring useful AI tools, supporting implementation, and helping ensure AI systems are deployed safely and effectively.
Executive Support Opportunities
GiveWell is also recruiting for executive support positions, including an Associate, Office of the CEO and Chief of Staff, Office of the COO.
The Associate supporting the CEO and Chief of Staff will provide scheduling, event planning, administrative, communications, research, and project support. Depending on experience and interests, the role may also contribute to AI experimentation and implementation.
The Chief of Staff role will support the COO with prioritization, information flow, communications, relationship management, meetings, and cross-functional initiatives. More senior candidates may contribute to strategic decision-making, hiring, and organizational priorities.
What GiveWell Is Looking For
GiveWell welcomes candidates with both specialized experience and strong general operational skills. The organization also encourages applications from early-career professionals and recent graduates who can demonstrate relevant abilities and strong alignment with its mission.
Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate:
- Ownership – taking responsibility for solving problems rather than simply completing assigned tasks.
- Strong communication – communicating clearly through written and verbal channels.
- Good judgment – understanding broader objectives and making thoughtful decisions when situations are unclear.
- Coachability – actively seeking feedback and using it to improve.
- Service and collaboration – helping colleagues succeed while contributing constructively to decision-making.
- Adaptability – remaining effective as priorities, systems, and technologies change.
- Mission alignment – genuine interest in GiveWell’s approach to identifying highly cost-effective opportunities.

Benefits include fully funded health, dental, vision, and life insurance in the U.S., four weeks of paid time off plus an annual summer break, 16 weeks of fully paid parental leave, home workstation or coworking support, and a 5% employer contribution to a 403(b) retirement plan for U.S.-based staff.
Application Process
Applicants can indicate which team or teams they are most interested in during the initial application. GiveWell may consider candidates for more than one position based on their skills and experience.
The selection process is expected to include a two-hour timed work trial, a 30-minute Talent Acquisition screening call, followed by additional interviews and work trials depending on the role. Reference checks may also be conducted.
A cover letter is not required. GiveWell places significant emphasis on resumes and application responses, so candidates are encouraged to provide thoughtful and detailed answers to the application questions.
Who Should Apply?
These opportunities may suit professionals with experience in administration, human resources, recruitment, grants management, technology, executive support, operations, project coordination, or systems improvement.
Candidates who enjoy working independently, improving processes, learning new technologies, and supporting mission-driven teams may find these roles particularly attractive. GiveWell also encourages people who do not meet every preferred qualification to apply if they believe they can contribute meaningfully.
Application Deadline
The deadline to apply is September 7, 2026. GiveWell expects applicants to receive a status update within two weeks after the deadline, although some candidates may hear back earlier.
For professionals seeking a remote opportunity with a growing organization focused on global health, development, and evidence-based giving, GiveWell’s Operations hiring round offers several potential career paths.
