Key Responsibilities

Safeguarding Leadership

  • Serve as the safeguarding focal point for global events and advocacy spaces.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and refine safeguarding protocols for storytelling and public engagement.
  • Ensure psychological safety, consent, and dignity-centered practices are embedded in all activities.
  • Manage crisis response and escalation processes when safeguarding concerns arise.

Training and Capacity Building

  • Design and deliver safeguarding and trauma-informed training programs.
  • Develop practical toolkits for engaging individuals with lived experience.
  • Stay updated on global safeguarding best practices and advise leadership.

Cross-Organizational Collaboration

  • Integrate safeguarding into program design across teams.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with organizational policies.
  • Manage safeguarding budgets and contribute to donor reporting.

Knowledge and Network Development

  • Build a global network of psychosocial support providers.
  • Strengthen institutional safeguarding systems and practices.
  • Monitor and evaluate safeguarding outcomes for continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in psychology, social work, public health, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in safeguarding, trauma-informed programming, or survivor advocacy.
  • Proven experience supporting individuals with lived experience in public or advocacy settings.
  • Strong skills in risk assessment, crisis response, and stakeholder management.
  • Deep understanding of ethical storytelling and consent practices.
  • Excellent communication, emotional intelligence, and cultural awareness.
  • Fluency in English (additional languages such as French or Spanish are an advantage).

Work Location and Conditions

  • Location: Remote (Kenya or United Kingdom preferred)
  • Travel: Up to 25% for global events and meetings
  • Working Hours: Core hours aligned with Eastern Standard Time (8 AM – 12 PM), plus flexible hours

Compensation and Benefits

  • Nairobi, Kenya: Ksh 6,228,750 – Ksh 7,230,260 annually
  • London, UK: £65,300 – £73,340 annually

Compensation is adjusted based on location, experience, and qualifications. The organization also offers competitive benefits, including paid leave and health insurance.
