Global Emergency Relief, Recovery & Reconstruction (GER³) is seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to support its financial operations and strengthen resource management within the organisation.

This opportunity is ideal for accounting and finance professionals with experience in nonprofit financial management, grant tracking, reporting, reconciliations and audit support. Founded in 2017, GER³ is a U.S.-based humanitarian nonprofit organisation focused on helping communities recover and rebuild after disasters and humanitarian crises.

Role Overview

The Senior Accountant will support the organisation’s daily accounting and financial activities. The role requires a highly organised professional who can manage financial processes, maintain accurate records and support reporting requirements.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Supporting payroll processes.
  • Maintaining financial records.
  • Completing account reconciliations.
  • Tracking grant funding and expenditures.
  • Preparing monthly financial reports.
  • Supporting audits and compliance activities.

This position will contribute directly to ensuring that humanitarian resources are managed efficiently and transparently.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Operations Management

The Senior Accountant will oversee core accounting functions, including:

  • Processing weekly and monthly accounts payable.
  • Managing accounts receivable activities.
  • Coordinating payroll processes.
  • Maintaining accurate accounting records.
  • Managing banking and corporate credit card accounts.

The role will ensure that financial transactions are properly recorded and processed in line with organisational requirements.

Reporting and Financial Analysis

The position will support financial planning and reporting through:

  • Preparing monthly financial reports.
  • Conducting financial analysis.
  • Producing budget versus actual reports.
  • Preparing cash flow projections.
  • Monitoring financial performance.

The Senior Accountant will help leadership understand financial trends and support informed decision-making.

Grant Management and Compliance Support

As a humanitarian organisation dependent on responsible resource management, GER³ requires strong grant oversight.

Responsibilities include:

  • Tracking grant funding and expenditures.
  • Supporting donor compliance requirements.
  • Assisting with external audits.
  • Maintaining documentation for financial reviews.
  • Monitoring vendor contracts.

The role will help ensure that donor resources are used effectively and according to funding agreements.

Required Qualifications and Skills

Applicants should have experience in accounting, finance or related fields.

Required qualifications include:

  • Associate degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three years’ relevant accounting experience.
  • Five or more years of experience preferred.
  • Experience in nonprofit organisations, grant management or donor compliance is an advantage.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, sorting, filtering and data management.
  • Experience using QuickBooks.
