Flexible Global Location and Competitive Salary
The position is available on a flexible basis across the UK, Europe, East Africa, Southern Africa, West Africa and South East Asia. Depending on location, the successful candidate may be offered a full-time employment contract or a long-term consultancy agreement.

About Bodhi Global Analysis
Bodhi Global Analysis is a woman-led international development research consultancy established in London in 2017. The organisation specialises in formative and evaluative research using participatory approaches, working with UN agencies, bilateral donors, INGOs and regional organisations, particularly in fragile and conflict-affected settings.
The consultancy has offices and subsidiaries in London, Nairobi, Singapore, Dar es Salaam and The Hague. Its clients include organisations such as UNICEF, UNFPA, UN Women, IOM, IFAD, UNEP, UNOPS, CARE, GIZ, Oxfam, Save the Children and Plan International.
A Senior Technical and Research Leadership Role
The successful candidate will serve as Bodhi’s senior technical authority on SGBV, protection and gender. This is a hands-on leadership position rather than a purely strategic advisory role. The Head will help shape methodologies, conduct field research, interview stakeholders and author and quality-assure client reports.
The team works across sexual and gender-based violence, protection risk analysis, safeguarding, PSEAH, gender equality and social inclusion, feminist evaluation and research involving marginalised populations, including refugees, internally displaced people and people with disabilities.
Key Responsibilities
The role combines technical leadership, fieldwork, research analysis, project management, business development and people management. Key duties include:
- Setting methodological standards for SGBV, protection and gender research.
- Designing survivor-centred, trauma-informed and ethically robust methodologies.
- Establishing safeguarding systems for projects involving GBV disclosures.
- Leading interviews, focus groups and participatory research in challenging environments.
- Recruiting, training and supervising consultants, enumerators and research teams.
- Conducting qualitative analysis and interpreting quantitative findings.
- Writing evaluations, analytical reports, policy briefs, gender strategies and action plans.
- Managing multiple research assignments, budgets and deadlines.
- Developing technical proposals and supporting business development.
- Building relationships with clients, donors, academics and civil society organisations.
- Leading and developing a distributed international team.
Who Should Apply?
This opportunity is aimed at highly experienced researchers and practitioners. Applicants must have a PhD in gender studies, development studies, international relations, public health, social anthropology, law or a closely related discipline, together with at least 10 years of professional experience in international development or humanitarian research, analysis and evaluation.
A demonstrated technical specialism in sexual and gender-based violence is essential. Candidates must also have extensive fieldwork experience in fragile or conflict-affected settings and a strong record of producing evaluation reports, analytical studies or policy briefs for institutional clients.
Strong mixed-methods research capabilities are also required, including quantitative and qualitative analysis. Experience with tools such as SPSS, Stata, R or Python and NVivo or comparable qualitative analysis software is expected.
Candidates must have native or near-native English proficiency and professional working proficiency in French, Spanish, Portuguese or Arabic. International travel to potentially insecure environments is also an important requirement.
Additional Experience That Could Strengthen an Application
Experience working with UNFPA, UNHCR, UNICEF, IOM, UN Women, the GBV Area of Responsibility or protection clusters would be advantageous. Familiarity with OECD-DAC evaluation criteria, UNEG standards, theory-based evaluation approaches and GBV or safeguarding training would also strengthen an application.
Bodhi is particularly interested in leaders who demonstrate sound judgement in ethically complex situations, strong analytical and writing skills, attention to detail, adaptability, teamwork and an uncompromising commitment to research ethics and safeguarding.
What Bodhi Offers
The organisation offers genuine ownership of a technical portfolio, flexible and remote working, a work-from-home budget and opportunities for meaningful international fieldwork. UK-based employees receive 28 days of annual leave plus public holidays and comprehensive medical insurance, while equivalent arrangements apply elsewhere.
How to Apply
Applicants should submit a CV of no more than three pages, a cover letter of no more than two pages, and one writing sample for which they were the principal author. The cover letter should specifically address SGBV and protection experience, second-language capability, location and right-to-work status.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and early applications are encouraged because the vacancy may close before the stated deadline for an exceptional candidate. The listed closing date is 14 August 2026.
For senior researchers and gender, protection and humanitarian specialists seeking an international leadership position, this role offers the opportunity to shape research practice while contributing to evidence-based programming across fragile and conflict-affected settings.
