Agroecology Fund (Global, Remote) is Seeking a Resource Development Manager – Apply By 20 February 2026

The Agroecology Fund (AEF) is seeking an experienced and mission-driven Resource Development Manager to lead and strengthen its global fundraising and donor engagement efforts. This role offers a unique opportunity for a mid-career development professional to contribute to the transformation of global food systems through agroecology, biodiversity conservation, and climate resilience.

About the Agroecology Fund (AEF)

The Agroecology Fund is a multi-donor global fund dedicated to supporting agroecology movements worldwide. Its mission is to mobilize resources that build power for small-scale farmers, Indigenous Peoples, and local communities, while advancing food sovereignty, human rights, biodiversity conservation, and climate change mitigation.

AEF operates with a small, decentralized, and fully remote team, working across multiple countries and regions. The organization values collaboration, equity, adaptability, and leadership at all levels. The Agroecology Fund is fiscally sponsored by the Global Greengrants Fund, enabling it to operate with strong governance and financial oversight.

This position offers a meaningful opportunity to work at a global scale to amplify grassroots agroecology movements and strengthen long-term funding for resilient food systems.

Position Overview

The Resource Development Manager is responsible for overseeing and strengthening AEF’s resource mobilization systems, donor relationships, and fundraising strategies. The role ensures that sufficient and sustainable financial resources are secured to support AEF’s global and regional operations.

The Resource Development Manager will:

  • Report directly to one of the Co-Directors
  • Collaborate closely with:
    • Co-Directors
    • Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) team
    • Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
    • Operations and Communications teams

Key Responsibilities

1. Fundraising and Resource Mobilization (80%)

The core responsibility of this role is to lead and manage fundraising efforts across a diverse donor portfolio.

Key duties include:

  • Building, strengthening, and maintaining long-term relationships with existing donors
  • Supporting donor retention, renewals, and stewardship
  • Cultivating new donors through:
    • Strategic prospecting and outreach
    • Participation in relevant conferences and convenings
  • Managing a portfolio of donors for ongoing engagement and growth
  • Writing high-quality:
    • Funding proposals
    • Donor reports
  • Tracking all donor deliverables and maintaining a comprehensive calendar of:
    • Proposal submissions
    • Reporting deadlines
  • Using and improving Salesforce and other databases to support:
    • Donor tracking
    • Reporting and outcome analysis
  • Collaborating with the MEL team to integrate timely and accurate grantee data into proposals and reports
  • Working with the Communications team to develop compelling fundraising and donor-facing materials
  • Representing AEF at virtual and in-person events to enhance visibility and mobilize resources
  • Supporting the development of:
    • A multi-year resource development strategy
    • Annual fundraising plans
  • Exploring additional fundraising approaches aligned with AEF’s strategy, such as online giving

2. Financial Coordination (10%)

  • Coordinating with the CFO on:
    • Restricted grants
    • Proposal budgets with restricted allocations
    • Financial reporting requirements for donors

3. Supervision and Coordination (5%)

  • Working closely with other members of the resource mobilization team
  • Ensuring:
    • Accurate fundraising data management
    • Timely submissions of proposals and reports

4. Team Building and Collaboration (5%)

  • Supporting internal collaboration across teams
  • Contributing to initiatives that advance:
    • Organizational values
    • Equity and inclusion goals

Required Qualifications

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong alignment with AEF’s mission and possess the following qualifications:

  • Commitment to AEF’s mission to transform food systems for people and the planet
  • Mid-career professional with:
    • At least 10 years of experience in the development sector
    • A minimum of 5 years of experience in resource development or fundraising
  • Familiarity with agroecology movements and related global issues
  • Experience working with:
    • Philanthropic foundations
    • International donors
  • International or cross-cultural professional experience
  • Proficiency in donor database systems, particularly Salesforce
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, plus:
    • Proficiency in French or Spanish
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities
  • High proficiency in:
    • Microsoft Office
    • Google Workspace
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, remote environment
  • Availability to work within Eastern Standard Time (EST) hours

Impact of the Role

AEF currently partners with more than 50 donors across the United States, Europe, and Asia, primarily within the philanthropic sector, while expanding partnerships with bilateral and multilateral agencies.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Employment type: Full-time, open-ended contract
  • Status: Employee or consultant (depending on location)
  • Compensation:
    • USD 90,000–110,000 annually for U.S.-based employees
    • Regionally equivalent salary for candidates based outside the U.S.
  • Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package included
  • Location: Fully remote
  • Start date: Approximately April 6, 2026
