Remote Fundraising Opportunity: Season Organization Fundraiser – Swift Sports Organisation (SSO), Uganda|Apply by 23 May 2026

Swift Sports Organisation (SSO) is inviting applications for a Season Organization Fundraiser to support a short-term but high-impact fundraising assignment. This is a 2–3 month remote contract role open to candidates anywhere in the world, focused on strengthening the financial sustainability of a grassroots sports and community development organization based in Uganda.

About Swift Sports Organisation

Swift Sports Organisation began as a small, community-driven initiative founded by four single mothers who were facing significant social and economic challenges including poverty, isolation, and lack of support systems. What started as informal evening gatherings for physical fitness and netball training gradually evolved into a growing movement.

As participation increased, the initiative expanded into structured sports clubs that now include Swift Superladies Netball Club, Swift Kids Club, Swift Teens Club, and Swift Mixed Club, all engaging in netball and football activities. Over time, the organization has grown to more than 80 members, providing a safe and empowering space for women, youth, and children.

In 2022, Swift Sports Organisation transitioned into a formally recognized Community-Based Organization (CBO) in Uganda under registration number NMC/CBO/1766/25, with a mission to use sports as a tool for empowerment, social inclusion, and community development.

The organization focuses on addressing key challenges affecting Uganda’s youth population, including unemployment, school dropout rates, poverty, and limited access to structured recreational and developmental opportunities. Through sports, SSO aims to build confidence, discipline, leadership skills, and community cohesion among disadvantaged groups.

Role Purpose

The Season Organization Fundraiser will play a critical role in supporting Swift Sports Organisation to develop sustainable funding systems. The goal is not only to raise short-term funds but also to help the organization build long-term financial strategies that support ongoing operations and expansion.

This role is particularly important because SSO operates at the community level with limited resources, relying heavily on external donors, grants, and partnerships to sustain its programs. The fundraiser will help bridge the gap between community needs and available funding opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for a range of fundraising and strategic support activities, including:

  • Identifying and researching potential donors, grant opportunities, and funding partners at both local and international levels
  • Developing and submitting funding proposals, concept notes, and grant applications aligned with SSO’s mission and projects
  • Designing and implementing a structured fundraising strategy that supports both immediate and long-term organizational needs
  • Supporting the development of income-generating project proposals, such as a proposed piggery project aimed at sustaining sports activities and operational costs
  • Advising the organization on donor engagement, fundraising systems, and resource mobilization strategies
  • Assisting leadership in building sustainable financial models to cover costs such as sports field maintenance, league registration fees, office rent, and operational utilities
  • Contributing to the development of partnerships with NGOs, foundations, and international development stakeholders

This role requires a proactive and independent approach, with the ability to translate community needs into compelling funding proposals that attract donor support.

Candidate Profile

Swift Sports Organisation is seeking a highly experienced fundraising professional with a strong background in nonprofit development work. The ideal candidate should have:

  • Proven experience in fundraising, grant writing, or resource mobilization, preferably within NGOs or community-based organizations
  • Experience working with grassroots initiatives, women-led organizations, youth programs, or sports development projects
  • Strong understanding of international donor landscapes, including foundations, bilateral agencies, and private philanthropy
  • Ability to develop structured fundraising strategies and long-term sustainability plans
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently in a remote setting
  • Excellent written communication skills in English, particularly in proposal writing and donor reporting
  • Prior experience working with or supporting Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) is highly preferred

Applicants are expected to be above 25 years of age with demonstrable professional experience in nonprofit fundraising or project development.

Work Arrangement & Requirements

  • Fully remote position (can be performed from anywhere in the world)
  • Contract duration: 2 to 3 months
  • Flexible working arrangement, with results-based deliverables
  • English fluency required; additional language skills such as French, Spanish, Arabic, or German are considered an advantage
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively across time zones

This is a role that requires a strong sense of initiative, as well as the ability to engage with community-based realities while operating in an international funding environment.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Monthly stipend: USD $100 – $200
  • Opportunity for international exposure and cross-cultural collaboration
  • Hands-on experience with grassroots sports development and community empowerment projects
  • Networking opportunities within the nonprofit and global development sector

While modest in financial compensation, this role offers meaningful exposure to community-driven development work and the chance to directly influence the sustainability of grassroots programs supporting women and youth.
