ChildFund Rugby Giving Lead Consultant: Remote Part-Time Fundraising Opportunity | Apply by September 16, 2026

ChildFund Rugby is seeking an experienced Rugby Giving Lead Consultant to help build relationships with rugby-connected supporters and generate significant charitable donations for the Pass It Back programme. This is a remote, part-time consultancy opportunity designed particularly for current or former professional or elite rugby athletes with strong credibility and networks within the rugby community.

The application deadline is 16 September 2026. The consultancy is expected to require approximately 10–12 hours per week, with flexible working arrangements and occasional early-morning or evening meetings to accommodate international time zones.

About ChildFund Rugby

ChildFund Rugby uses rugby and life-skills education to help children and young people in vulnerable situations develop social and emotional skills, overcome challenges and take leadership roles.

Its Pass It Back programme combines rugby with structured learning opportunities designed to support positive social impact. The organisation is now developing the Pass It Back Collective, a global community of rugby-connected supporters whose investment can help the programme reach more children and young people.

The Rugby Giving Lead Consultant will play an important role in developing this supporter community.

About the Rugby Giving Lead Role

This is primarily a relationship-based fundraising and stakeholder engagement consultancy. Previous fundraising or major-giving experience is not required because structured induction, training, practical resources and ongoing mentoring will be provided.

The consultant will manage a defined portfolio of approximately 25–35 prospective supporters at different stages of qualification and relationship development.

The successful candidate will use their rugby experience, credibility and networks to secure trusted introductions, develop authentic relationships and help prospective supporters understand the impact of Pass It Back.

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio Development and Relationship Management

The Rugby Giving Lead will actively manage an assigned portfolio of prospective supporters. This includes developing relationship strategies, maintaining accurate records and ensuring clear next actions.

The consultant will use trusted rugby connections to open doors to priority prospects and build relationships through individual meetings, small gatherings, rugby events, Pass It Back briefings, in-person visits and virtual experiences.

Relationships will be progressed through qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.

Major Giving and Collective Development

The consultant will assess prospect readiness and work with the Co-Directors and fundraising advisers to develop suitable gift strategies.

They may participate in or lead major-gift conversations and solicitations where appropriate. The role also involves following up on potential commitments, documentation and agreed actions.

The Rugby Giving Lead will help steward Collective members through meaningful engagement while identifying opportunities for renewed giving, advocacy and introductions.

Representation and Collaboration

The consultant will represent ChildFund Rugby and the Pass It Back Collective at selected meetings, events and supporter engagements.

Strong storytelling and communication will be important when explaining the programme’s purpose and impact. The successful candidate will work with Co-Directors, other Rugby Giving Leads, ambassadors, fundraising advisers and the Social Impact Administrator.

Accurate reporting, coordination and timely follow-up will also be essential.

Who Can Apply?

The opportunity is particularly suited to a current or former professional or elite rugby athlete who has credibility and relevant relationships within the rugby community.

Candidates should demonstrate strong communication, listening and storytelling abilities, as well as confidence initiating conversations and maintaining relationships.

Strong personal organisation, sound judgement and the ability to work independently and asynchronously are also required.

Applicants should be open to learning about relationship-based fundraising and participating in significant-gift conversations.

An authentic commitment to Pass It Back, gender equality and rugby’s potential to create positive social impact is important.

Additional networks, languages, cross-cultural experience and experience in partnerships, business development, representation or senior stakeholder engagement will be advantageous but are not mandatory.

Remote Working and Consultancy Details

The position is fully remote, with initial appointments expected to focus on North America and Europe.

It is a part-time consultancy requiring approximately 10–12 hours per week. Performance will be assessed mainly through agreed portfolio deliverables and relationship progress rather than fixed working hours.

Domestic and international travel may be required for selected meetings, rugby events and Pass It Back experiences.

The contract will be fixed-term, with the initial term and potential extension determined by availability, performance, programme requirements and funding.

Consultancy fee: Applicants are asked to propose a monthly consultancy fee for the expected 10–12 hours per week.

How to Apply

Interested candidates should complete the online application and submit:

  • A current CV
  • A cover letter explaining suitability and interest
  • A brief description of relevant rugby, professional, community or stakeholder networks
  • Examples of relationship-building, representation, partnership or comparable experience
  • Availability to commit approximately 10–12 hours per week
  • Proposed monthly consultancy fee

Shortlisted candidates may be asked to complete a practical exercise involving preparation for a prospective-supporter meeting or drafting a follow-up communication.

Application deadline: 16 September 2026.

Conclusion

The Rugby Giving Lead Consultant opportunity offers an experienced rugby professional the chance to use their sporting credibility and relationships to support a global social-impact programme.

With training provided and previous fundraising experience not required, the role could suit an elite rugby athlete who is confident building relationships, communicating with diverse stakeholders and supporting positive change through sport.

Interested candidates should apply before 16 September 2026 and clearly demonstrate their rugby networks, relationship-building strengths and commitment to the Pass It Back mission.
