The Oxford Climate Leadership Research Centre is inviting applications from influential leaders in politics, business, and sport to join its growing community of climate leaders. Through this competitive membership programme, participants will explore how they can use their leadership, networks, and public influence to accelerate climate action, promote sustainable behaviours, and inspire positive environmental change.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, giving eligible leaders the opportunity to join an international network committed to shaping the future of climate leadership.

About the Oxford Climate Leadership Research Centre

The Oxford Climate Leadership Research Centre brings together influential decision-makers to strengthen climate leadership through research, learning, collaboration, and evidence-based communication.

The Centre supports leaders in understanding the role they can play in addressing climate change, regardless of whether they have previous expertise in environmental issues. Members gain access to world-class research, leadership development opportunities, and a diverse network of professionals working to influence policy, business, and society.

The programme is designed to help leaders communicate more effectively about climate change while encouraging practical action within their organisations, industries, and communities.

Who Can Apply?

The Centre is currently seeking applications from influential individuals across three sectors:

Political Leaders

Eligible applicants include:

  • Current and former politicians
  • Members of parliament
  • Regional and local government leaders
  • Public officials with significant influence

Business Executives

Applications are encouraged from senior leaders, including:

  • Chief Executive Officers (CEOs)

The Centre primarily targets leaders from organisations employing 250 or more staff, although individuals with broader industry influence may also be considered.

Sports Leaders

  • Selected nationally recognised semi-professional athletes

Who Is the Centre Looking For?

Successful applicants will typically demonstrate several of the following qualities:

  • Significant leadership responsibilities within politics, business, or sport
  • The ability to influence organisations, communities, or large public audiences
  • Interest in climate change, sustainability, or environmental issues
  • A willingness to learn from research and collaborate with fellow leaders
  • Openness to using leadership to drive meaningful climate action

Previous experience as a climate expert is not required.

Because places are limited, priority is given to applicants with substantial leadership responsibilities and demonstrated influence.
