This is a short-term, project-based role focused on writing, refining, and finalizing website content over a 4–6-week period. The writer will translate complex programmatic information into concise, accessible, and compelling copy that reflects the Institute’s voice and values.

This role requires attention to detail, strong storytelling skills, and the ability to create a consistent tone across multiple pages, ensuring that both core messaging and detailed program information are easy to understand and engaging for a diverse audience. The copywriter will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to gather insights and feedback and will participate in a kickoff call and stakeholder interviews.

  • Simplifying complex program descriptions, service details, and organizational processes into clear, user-friendly language.
  • Collaborating with internal staff and stakeholders to incorporate their feedback and perspectives into the content.
  • Completing at least two rounds of revisions per page to ensure final copy meets quality and branding standards.

  • Excellent editing skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to interview stakeholders and translate their input into compelling content.
  • Experience managing feedback from multiple stakeholders and delivering high-quality work within strict timelines.
  • Experience writing for mission-driven organizations (nonprofits, healthcare, education, or human services) is highly preferred.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

  • Experience supporting a rebrand or website redesign project.
  • Familiarity with accessible and inclusive writing practices, ensuring content is readable and usable for diverse audiences.
  • Understanding of SEO best practices and web content structure to optimize for search engines and user experience.

  • Strategic, able to balance creativity with clarity and structure.
  • Collaborative, working well with internal teams while respecting project timelines.
  • Detail-oriented, ensuring consistent messaging across all website pages.
  • Passionate about mission-driven work, particularly supporting communities with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
