AWIEF Pitch n Grow 2026 Opens Applications for Women-Led Deep-Tech Ventures Across Africa

Women entrepreneurs across Africa now have an exciting opportunity to showcase their innovations, access mentorship, gain international visibility, and compete for funding through the AWIEF Pitch n Grow 2026 Competition.

As AWIEF’s flagship annual entrepreneurship competition, Pitch n Grow is designed to identify, support, and amplify some of the continent’s most promising women-led businesses. The programme provides founders with access to training, mentorship, networking opportunities, media exposure, and a platform to present their ventures to investors and industry leaders.

For 2026, the competition is centered around the theme “Deep Roots. Digital Futures.” The initiative seeks to highlight women entrepreneurs who are leveraging deep technology to solve African challenges while building solutions rooted in local realities and designed for long-term impact.

What is the AWIEF Pitch n Grow Competition?

Pitch n Grow is a pan-African entrepreneurship programme created to accelerate the growth of women-led ventures across the continent. The programme goes beyond a traditional pitch competition by combining business development support with visibility and ecosystem connections.

Participants receive guidance throughout the competition journey, helping them strengthen their business models, improve their pitching skills, and prepare for future investment and growth opportunities.

The competition welcomes applications from women founders operating in any African country and aims to support ventures at different stages of development.

The 2026 Theme: Deep Roots. Digital Futures.

This year’s theme focuses on deep technology and Africa’s unique advantage in developing locally relevant innovations.

Rather than importing solutions from elsewhere, AWIEF is encouraging entrepreneurs to use advanced technologies to address challenges faced by African communities. The competition seeks ventures that combine technological innovation with a deep understanding of local markets, cultures, and development priorities.

The goal is to support businesses that can create scalable solutions with both continental and global relevance.

Three Competition Tracks

To ensure fair competition, applicants will compete within one of three categories based on their stage of business development.

Idea Track

This category is designed for entrepreneurs who are still in the early stages of developing their ventures.

Eligible businesses should:

• Have a prototype or proof of concept.
• Be less than 18 months old.
• Have no minimum revenue requirements.
• Operate with a solo founder or a small team of fewer than five people.

Startup Track

The Startup Track targets businesses that have already launched and begun generating revenue.

Applicants should:

• Have active customers or users.
• Be formally registered.
• Have operated for between six months and three years.
• Have a dedicated founding team.

Scale-Up Track

This category is intended for more established ventures with proven growth potential.

Businesses must:

• Generate more than USD 500,000 in revenue or have secured institutional funding.
• Be expanding into two or more African countries.
• Have operated for at least three years.
• Employ more than five full-time staff members.

Who Can Apply?

The competition is open to women entrepreneurs from across Africa who meet the following requirements:

• Must be a woman founder or co-founder.
• Mixed-gender teams are eligible, provided the lead presenter is a woman co-founder.
• Must be a citizen, resident, or registered operator within an African country.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• The business must primarily serve African markets.
• Applicants must commit to attending the final competition event if selected.

Importantly, the female applicant must be a registered founder or legal owner of the venture.

Competition Timeline

Applications officially opened on June 22, 2026.

Following the selection process, 12 finalists will be announced before advancing to the live finals, which will take place during the AWIEF 2026 Conference on November 10–11, 2026.
