The Importance of the Regional Director Role

The Regional Director, North America serves as the organization’s senior leader responsible for sustaining, growing, and diversifying revenue throughout North America. As WfWI’s largest and most mature philanthropic market, the region plays a central role in funding programs that empower women around the world.

The successful candidate will oversee a comprehensive strategy designed to strengthen donor engagement, increase philanthropic support, and expand partnerships across multiple sectors. This includes managing relationships with individual donors, family offices, foundations, corporations, and other strategic partners.

Beyond fundraising, the Regional Director will act as the primary ambassador for Women for Women International across North America, representing the organization in high-level engagements and helping strengthen its visibility and influence within the philanthropic community.

Key Responsibilities

The position encompasses a broad range of leadership and strategic responsibilities, including:

• Developing and implementing a bold North America revenue strategy aligned with the organization’s global goals.
• Expanding individual giving programs and strengthening donor acquisition and retention efforts.
• Building relationships with major donors capable of making transformational contributions.
• Cultivating partnerships with family offices, foundations, and corporate social responsibility programs.
• Supporting initiatives that mobilize catalytic capital and innovative funding mechanisms.
• Representing North America on the Global Revenue Team and Global Leadership Team.
• Collaborating closely with the Chief Executive Officer, advisory bodies, and senior leadership colleagues.
• Ensuring the North America team operates effectively and contributes meaningfully to organizational growth and sustainability.
• Managing budgets, revenue forecasting, and strategic financial planning.
• Leading, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams across a globally distributed environment.

This role requires a visionary leader capable of balancing strategic planning with relationship management and operational excellence.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Women for Women International is seeking a seasoned executive with a proven history of leadership in nonprofit development, partnerships, or revenue generation.

Key qualifications include:

• A university degree, with a master’s degree preferred.
• At least ten years of senior leadership experience.
• Demonstrated success leading fundraising and marketing programs that significantly increased revenue and organizational impact.
• Strong expertise in direct marketing and donor pipeline development.
• A proven track record of securing six- and seven-figure gifts from major donors and philanthropic partners.
• Experience working with foundations, family offices, and corporate partners.
• Strong financial management, budgeting, and forecasting skills.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities.
• Experience leading high-performing teams within complex and globally distributed organizations.
• Deep commitment to women’s rights, economic empowerment, humanitarian response, and international development.
