The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) has announced an exciting consultancy opportunity for experienced communications professionals to join its Communications Headquarters team as a Digital Community Associate Consultant. This short-term consultancy, designed to provide maternity cover support, offers qualified candidates the opportunity to contribute to global nutrition advocacy and digital communications initiatives while working remotely from any country where GAIN has an established presence.
With a total consultancy budget of USD 10,000 over four months, the assignment is ideal for digital communications specialists with experience in the nonprofit, development, or donor-funded sectors.

To maintain its strong digital presence and communications output during a maternity cover period, GAIN is seeking an independent consultant who can support a wide range of communications activities. The selected consultant will play a key role in enhancing digital storytelling, audience engagement, social media management, campaign implementation, and reporting across the organization’s communications channels.
The consultancy will run from July to October 2026 and will require approximately 15–20 working days per month.
Key Responsibilities
The successful consultant will support GAIN’s communications team across several strategic areas, including:
- Digital storytelling and content development.
- Social media management and community engagement.
- Campaign planning and implementation support.
- Promotion and amplification of the “Bite the Talk” podcast.
- Audience insights gathering and digital listening.
- Monitoring, evaluation, and performance reporting.
- Support for country-level communications teams.
The role will involve developing compelling content that communicates GAIN’s impact, priorities, campaigns, and thought leadership initiatives to global audiences.
Expected Deliverables
Throughout the consultancy period, the consultant will be responsible for delivering several important outputs.
These include:
- A comprehensive Digital Communications Workplan and Engagement Strategy.
- Monthly content calendars aligned with GAIN’s priority dates and events.
- A digital content production support plan for the Bite the Talk podcast.
- Campaign implementation plans and ongoing support.
- Monthly analytics reports, quarterly reports, and a final consultancy report.
- Communications products such as blogs, success stories, and thought leadership content.
- Monitoring of digital conversations, audience sentiment, and emerging trends.
- Support and guidance for country communications focal points.
- Monthly digital analytics dashboards tracking audience growth and engagement.
All deliverables must be submitted electronically and will be reviewed by GAIN’s Head of Communications or an assigned representative.
Ideal Candidate Profile
GAIN is looking for a consultant with a strong background in communications and digital media.
Candidates should possess:
- Four to five years of experience in communications, digital media, NGOs, donor-funded programmes, foundations, or development organizations.
- Demonstrated experience managing campaigns linked to major events, awareness days, and convenings.
- Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling abilities.
- Experience managing social media communities and platforms.
- Strong English communication skills.
- Multimedia content production experience.
- Familiarity with social media management tools such as Sprout Social.
- Experience using digital analytics and reporting platforms.
- Ability to work effectively within multicultural and geographically dispersed teams.
Knowledge of French or Portuguese will be considered an added advantage.
Consultancy Timeline
The recruitment process will move quickly, with proposal reviews and interviews expected during the week of 22 June 2026.
Key dates include:

- Contract signing and kick-off meeting: Week of 29 June 2026.
