Center for Tech and Civic Life Seeks Development Director – Earn $116K–$141K Annually

The Center for Tech and Civic Life (CTCL), a nonpartisan nonprofit dedicated to supporting excellent election administration across the United States, is seeking a Development Director. This full-time, remote position offers a salary of $116,487–$141,487 per year and will start on May 18, 2026.

About CTCL

CTCL strengthens local election departments through research, training, and funding to ensure that all voters—especially those who need the most support—have access to fair and efficient elections. The organization helps election offices improve administration, build capacity, and adopt best practices nationwide.

Role Overview

The Development Director is a new leadership role responsible for building systems and relationships to advance CTCL’s fundraising and mission. This role reports directly to the Chief Strategy Officer and works closely with the CEO, COO, and leadership team.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading CTCL-specific fundraising initiatives within a collaborative strategy.
• Managing a portfolio of donors and foundations, soliciting gifts, and writing grant proposals.
• Supporting colleagues’ fundraising efforts with research and grant application assistance.
• Establishing and maintaining donor management systems, calendars, and internal processes.
• Serving on the leadership team, providing strategic input, and championing organizational decisions.

Qualifications

Successful candidates will have:

• Proven nonprofit development experience, including major gifts solicitation and grant management.
• Strong communication skills, able to build relationships and convey CTCL’s mission clearly.
• Project management skills, translating high-level goals into actionable plans.
• A commitment to CTCL’s mission, values, and democratic principles.

Experience with people management, familiarity with the democracy landscape, CFRE certification, or CRM/systems management is a plus but not required.

• Location: Remote within the United States (Chicago, IL office optional).
• Travel: 30–40%, depending on need and public health considerations.
