Youth Transforming Narratives (YTN) is inviting applications from experienced young people to join its executive leadership team as the organisation enters its next chapter, YTN 2.0.
The initiative is looking for motivated youth leaders to take on two key volunteer positions: Director of Operations and Co-Director of Programs. These roles offer an opportunity to contribute to a growing global youth-led movement working to challenge and decolonize international peace and security systems.
About Youth Transforming Narratives
Youth Transforming Narratives began two years ago as a youth-led initiative focused on bringing young people’s perspectives into international peace and security discussions.
Since its launch, the organisation has developed into a global community involving young people, researchers, activists and practitioners. It has established international working groups, created communities of practice, trained and engaged hundreds of young people and contributed youth-led perspectives to important policy conversations.
YTN is now entering a new phase with the launch of YTN 2.0, which aims to professionalize and strengthen the organisation while creating the structures needed for sustainable growth.
The new executive leadership positions will be central to this transformation.
Director of Operations
The Director of Operations will help build and strengthen the internal systems that allow YTN to operate effectively as it grows.
The successful volunteer will be responsible for supporting areas such as:
- Internal systems and workflows
- Organisational processes and coordination
- Standard operating procedures and documentation
- Recruitment and onboarding
- People and volunteer management
- Team structures
- HR policies and staff wellbeing
- Professional development
- Governance and compliance
- Contracts and internal records
- Administrative infrastructure
This role is suited to someone who enjoys creating structure and improving the way organisations function.
The ideal candidate should be able to look beyond individual projects and ask whether an organisation has the right people, systems and infrastructure to achieve its goals.
Co-Director of Programs
YTN is also seeking Co-Directors of Programs to help oversee and strengthen its programme activities.
The role involves supervising two YTN teams and ensuring that programmes operate effectively. The successful candidates will help coordinate teams, support volunteers, monitor projects and contribute to improving the quality and impact of YTN’s programmes.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for individuals who understand that successful programmes require more than ambitious ideas.
Effective programme delivery requires planning, accountability, coordination, communication and strong teams.
The Co-Directors of Programs will therefore play an important role in helping transform YTN’s vision into practical and sustainable programmes.
Who Should Apply?
YTN is looking for exceptional young people with at least three years of experience who are ready to contribute at an executive leadership level.
Applicants should be comfortable working remotely, collaborating with diverse teams and taking responsibility for organisational or programme-level priorities.
For the Director of Operations position, experience in areas such as operations, human resources, administration, governance, organisational development or volunteer management could be valuable.
For the Co-Director of Programs role, experience in programme management, project coordination, team leadership, community engagement or youth-led initiatives may be particularly relevant.

Time Commitment and Location
Both positions are fully remote and voluntary.
