After successfully proving its model, Impact Collective is now expanding its reach across the Bay Area and Boston while strengthening its internal operations to support sustainable growth.
About the Managing Director Role
Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Managing Director will oversee organizational operations, strategic planning, program delivery, finance, and team management. The successful candidate will ensure the organization’s day-to-day operations run efficiently while supporting long-term growth and organizational excellence.
This fully remote role requires regular travel for board meetings, team gatherings, partner engagement, fundraising activities, and program delivery.
Key Responsibilities
The Managing Director will:
- Partner with the Executive Director to implement strategic priorities.
- Lead and manage cross-functional teams across programs, operations, communications, and finance.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, staff development, and performance management.
- Strengthen organizational systems and operational processes.
- Manage relationships with fiscal sponsors, consultants, and external partners.
- Coordinate annual planning, budgeting, and financial oversight.
- Support board communications and governance activities.
- Ensure effective collaboration across all organizational departments.
- Build operational capacity to support future expansion.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- Significant senior leadership experience within nonprofit or mission-driven organizations.
- Strong people management and organizational development expertise.
- Experience managing operations, finance, HR, and strategic planning.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to racial and economic justice.
- Experience leading organizational growth and change.
- Ability to work independently within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Experience with nonprofit technology platforms such as Google Workspace, Asana, Slack, Neon CRM, and LearnWorlds is considered an advantage.
