CHOICE for Youth and Sexuality is seeking an Advocacy Advisor & Programme Coordinator to support global youth-led advocacy and programme implementation focused on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).

This 32-hour hybrid role based in Amsterdam, Netherlands offers an opportunity for an experienced and passionate professional to work alongside young leaders, civil society organisations, and international partners to strengthen youth participation, advocacy strategies, and inclusive development programmes.

About the Advocacy Advisor & Programme Coordinator Role

The successful candidate will work across two teams at CHOICE:

• The International Advocacy Team, supporting global advocacy initiatives.
• The Youth Leadership Team, coordinating programmes and youth engagement activities.

The role combines approximately 65% advocacy responsibilities and 35% programme coordination, creating an opportunity to contribute to both policy influence and practical programme delivery.

Advocacy Advisor Responsibilities

As Advocacy Advisor, the candidate will contribute to the When You(th) Lead (WYL) programme, a youth-led initiative designed to increase young people’s access to SRHR information and services.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting the development and implementation of advocacy strategies.
• Coordinating advocacy activities among partner organisations.
• Ensuring advocacy approaches align with programme goals.
• Facilitating knowledge-sharing between youth-led partners.
• Representing CHOICE in advocacy meetings, working groups, and conferences.
• Connecting international advocacy efforts with regional and national priorities.

The role requires someone who understands how advocacy can influence policies and create meaningful change for young people.

Programme Coordination Responsibilities

The Programme Coordinator component focuses on supporting CHOICE’s youth leadership programmes.

The successful candidate will initially support the EmpowerED programme funded by UNFPA, including establishing and coordinating a Youth Advisory Group.

Responsibilities include:

• Developing Terms of Reference and a Code of Conduct for youth advisory members.
• Creating training and mentorship pathways.
• Developing Youth Advisory Board workplans.
• Coordinating activities and administrative processes.
• Supporting meaningful and inclusive youth participation within the SRHR Next Alliance programme.

The role will evolve over time as CHOICE’s programme portfolio develops.

Skills and Experience Required

CHOICE is looking for candidates who are passionate about youth advocacy, international development, and SRHR.

Applicants should have:

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field and/or at least two years of relevant experience.
• Experience or knowledge of international advocacy.
• Understanding of the UN system and international policy processes.
• Interest and experience in programme coordination.
• Strong communication and networking skills.
• Excellent organisational and planning abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple activities while maintaining strategic focus.
• Fluency in English.

Candidates with experience in youth participation, advocacy strategy development, UN or EU advocacy processes, and SRHR programming will be highly valued.

Preferred Knowledge and Competencies

Additional experience that would strengthen applications includes:

• Developing youth advisory groups or participation mechanisms.
• Conducting advocacy at UN or European Union level.
• Creating participatory advocacy strategies.
• Facilitating online or in-person training for young people.
• Knowledge of Meaningful Youth and Inclusive Participation (MIYP).
• Understanding of international development trends.
• Experience working with diverse youth communities.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate creativity, flexibility, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to inclusive youth leadership.

Salary and Benefits

CHOICE offers:

• A one-year contract with possibility of renewal.
• A 32-hour working week.
• Monthly gross salary between €3,461 and €3,676 based on experience.
• Travel allowance or work-from-home allowance.
