The American University of Afghanistan (AUAF) is seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Finance and Reporting Officer to join its Finance Department. This full-time position is remote and open to candidates located outside Afghanistan. The successful candidate will report directly to the Senior Finance Manager and work closely with the Senior Finance Officer to ensure accurate financial reporting, agreement compliance, and effective financial operations.

Position Summary
The Finance and Reporting Officer plays a key role in supporting AUAF’s financial operations by ensuring accurate reporting, effective agreement management, and compliance with institutional and donor requirements. The role involves facilitating agreement payments, monitoring budgets, maintaining financial records, and supporting audit processes.
The position requires close coordination with the Senior Finance Officer and Senior Finance Manager to manage reporting deadlines, produce high-quality financial reports, and provide timely donor updates. The Finance and Reporting Officer will also contribute to ad hoc assignments and support broader departmental objectives as required.

Key Responsibilities
The Finance and Reporting Officer will be responsible for the following:
- Supporting contract and agreement management, including payments, budget-to-actual reporting, and compliance
- Tracking reporting schedules and following up with relevant departmental focal points
- Managing financial records, receipts, and daily receivables tracking
- Reconciling monthly and annual financial transactions, particularly receivables
- Entering and maintaining financial data within internal accounting systems
- Participating in financial audits and preparing required documentation
- Collecting monthly, quarterly, and annual reports from various units
- Reviewing and editing reports to address gaps, inconsistencies, and inaccuracies
- Maintaining organized backup files for reports and financial documentation
- Performing routine finance tasks and facilitating agreement payments
- Completing any additional duties assigned by the supervisor
Required Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field
- At least four years of relevant professional experience
- Strong understanding of the accounting cycle and financial processes
- Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general Microsoft Office tools
- Prior experience with Power Campus and Dynamics 365 is an advantage
