Fòs Feminista is seeking a Consultant – Supporting the Global Advocacy Team on Financing and Accountability for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). This fully remote consultancy provides an opportunity for experienced professionals working in SRHR, gender equality, global health, development finance, political economy, and advocacy to contribute to global feminist financing initiatives.
The consultant will support Fòs Feminista’s efforts to strengthen advocacy strategies, improve financing accountability, and build capacity among organizations working to advance sexual and reproductive health and rights worldwide.
The assignment is home-based and open to candidates who can collaborate across different time zones. The consultancy carries a total compensation package of USD 8,000–10,000 for the full consultancy period, depending on qualifications and experience.
About the Consultancy Assignment
The global landscape for SRHR financing is experiencing significant challenges due to declining donor funding, increasing economic pressures, changing political priorities, and growing opposition to rights-based approaches.
Many civil society organizations working on SRHR face barriers in engaging with financing discussions involving:
- Public finance and government budgets
- Health financing systems
- Debt and taxation policies
- Development cooperation
- Social protection systems
- Economic governance
- Accountability mechanisms
Fòs Feminista is working to address these challenges by strengthening evidence-based advocacy, improving knowledge sharing, and supporting organizations to engage more effectively in global and regional financing discussions.
The selected consultant will contribute to two major areas:
- Mapping the advocacy ecosystem for financing and accountability for SRHR
- Supporting the Feminist Summer School on Financing and Accountability for SRHR
Key Responsibilities of the Consultant
Mapping the SRHR Financing and Accountability Advocacy Ecosystem
The consultant will conduct comprehensive research and analysis to identify important political spaces, actors, opportunities, and challenges affecting SRHR financing globally.
Responsibilities will include:
- Identifying global, regional, and sub-regional advocacy spaces related to health financing, gender equality, development financing, and sustainable development
- Analyzing key debates and emerging trends affecting SRHR funding
- Examining connections between SRHR and broader economic issues such as taxation, debt, universal health coverage, climate finance, and social protection
- Mapping governments, multilateral institutions, development banks, donors, civil society organizations, feminist movements, and advocacy networks
- Identifying opportunities for collaboration and coalition-building
The analysis will cover three key regions:
- Latin America and the Caribbean
- Africa
- Asia-Pacific
The consultant will also provide strategic recommendations to help Fòs Feminista and partners identify advocacy opportunities and strengthen engagement strategies.
Supporting the Feminist Summer School Program
The consultant will also support the development and implementation of the Feminist Summer School on Financing and Accountability for SRHR.
Key responsibilities include:
Program Development
The consultant will:
- Support curriculum design and thematic planning
- Develop session objectives and learning approaches
- Assist with identifying expert speakers
- Support participatory learning methods
- Ensure feminist, intersectional, and Global South perspectives are integrated into course content
Documentation and Knowledge Management
The consultant will contribute to:
- Session summaries
- Learning documentation
- Final program synthesis reports
- Recommendations for future initiatives
Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning
Responsibilities will include:
- Designing participant feedback mechanisms
- Developing evaluation approaches
- Reviewing participant feedback
- Identifying lessons learned and recommendations
- Supporting analytical reflections for final reports
Expected Deliverables
The consultant will produce several key outputs, including:
Advocacy Ecosystem Mapping Deliverables
- Inception report outlining methodology, timeline, and research approach
- Stakeholder and advocacy ecosystem mapping
- Draft and final research reports
- Stakeholder directory where possible
- Political process calendar
- Recommendations for regional engagement strategies
- Presentation summarizing findings and opportunities
Feminist Summer School Deliverables
- Program workplan and implementation timeline
- Course framework and curriculum
- Speaker and session planning support
- Final course report highlighting participation, learning outcomes, evaluation findings, and recommendations
Required Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in areas related to SRHR, gender equality, development finance, and global advocacy.
Applicants should demonstrate:
- Experience in SRHR, global health, gender equality, or social justice work
- Understanding of global and regional political processes
- Experience conducting stakeholder mapping and political economy analysis
- Knowledge of financing issues affecting health and rights-based programs
- Experience working with feminist movements, civil society organizations, or advocacy coalitions
- Excellent research, analytical, and writing skills
- Ability to transform complex policy issues into practical recommendations
- Strong independent working skills
