Calling for Applications: Emerging Voices in AI and Society Fellowship 2026 – Fully Remote Opportunity with a USD $30,000 Stipend

To help address these challenges, the Center for Humane Technology (CHT) has launched the Emerging Voices in AI and Society Fellowship, a six-month paid fellowship designed to support experts, researchers, advocates, journalists, and thought leaders working at the intersection of technology and society.

The fellowship aims to elevate diverse perspectives and foster meaningful conversations about how AI can be developed and governed in ways that serve humanity’s best interests.

Fellowship Overview

The inaugural fellowship cohort will consist of three fellows selected from a diverse pool of applicants.

Programme Details:

• Duration: September 14, 2026 – March 31, 2027
• Location: Fully Remote (Worldwide)
• Commitment: 15 hours per week
• Time Zone Requirement: 10 hours overlapping with Eastern Standard Time (EST)
• Compensation: USD $30,000 total stipend
• Cohort Size: 3 Fellows
• Application Deadline: July 12, 2026

The stipend is paid based on the successful completion of three programme milestones.

What Fellows Will Produce

Applicants are required to submit a proposal outlining:

• How their work aligns with the fellowship’s objectives

The programme is designed to support the development of thoughtful research that can influence public understanding, policy discussions, and technology governance.

Interested applicants must submit the following materials:

• A 1–2 page research proposal for each selected focus area
• A CV or résumé (maximum two pages)
• A two-minute video introducing themselves and explaining their fit for the fellowship
• A writing sample demonstrating research and analytical ability
