As part of this preparation process, FAO is looking for a specialist who can provide technical support on:

Key Responsibilities of the Gender and Local Community Specialist

Conduct Gender Analysis and Support Inclusion

The specialist will:

• Conduct gender analysis through research and stakeholder consultations
• Review existing information on gender equality and social inclusion

• Collecting and organising baseline information on community livelihoods
• Supporting documentation of local economic activities

• Helping integrate livelihood considerations into project plans

Developing Gender-Responsive Project Documents

The consultant will contribute to the preparation and organisation of key project materials.

Who Can Apply?

FAO is looking for professionals with strong experience in gender, livelihoods, and community development.

Applicants should have:

• A Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in Social Sciences, Business Administration, Agriculture, Environmental Economics, or a related field
• At least five years of professional experience in gender and livelihood development
• Experience working with communities, NGOs, government institutions, or development partners
• Strong knowledge of gender analysis and social inclusion approaches
• Experience developing gender action plans and integrating gender into projects
• Excellent analytical, writing, facilitation, and communication skills

Experience working in sectors such as fisheries, agriculture, forestry, or environmental programmes will be an advantage.

Knowledge of FAO and GEF environmental and social safeguards will also be beneficial.
