About the Communications Associate Position

The Communications Associate will report to the Director of Marketing and Communications while working closely with the Development Manager to increase awareness of Essential Partners’ mission and programs.

This role combines content creation, digital marketing, fundraising communications, storytelling, and campaign coordination, making it an excellent opportunity for professionals with nonprofit communications experience.

The successful candidate will help communicate the organization’s impact through multiple digital and print channels while supporting donor engagement and fundraising initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

The position includes responsibilities across communications, marketing, and fundraising.

Communications and Marketing (70%)

The Communications Associate will:

  • Write engaging blog posts, impact stories, interviews, and case studies.
  • Draft press releases and organizational communications.
  • Create compelling content for digital and print platforms.
  • Produce and edit short-form videos.
  • Maintain and update the Essential Partners website.
  • Support email marketing campaigns.
  • Manage social media communications.
  • Design branded marketing materials.
  • Conduct communications research and prepare reports.
  • Collaborate with program, operations, and development teams to strengthen organizational visibility.

Fundraising Support (20%)

The role also contributes to fundraising by:

  • Supporting virtual and in-person fundraising events.
  • Assisting with donor communications.
  • Preparing donor acknowledgment letters.
  • Creating quarterly donor reports.
  • Supporting fundraising email campaigns.
  • Helping strengthen donor engagement initiatives.

Organizational Participation (10%)

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Participating in staff meetings.
  • Supporting organizational projects.
  • Maintaining documentation and reporting requirements.
  • Contributing to cross-functional collaboration.

Required Qualifications

Essential Partners is seeking professionals with 2–5 years of nonprofit communications experience.

Annual Salary

  • USD $70,000–$75,000, depending on experience.

Fully Remote Work Environment

This is a fully remote U.S.-based position.

Essential Partners also hosts quarterly in-person staff retreats to strengthen collaboration and team relationships.
