These fully remote appointments provide an opportunity to influence one of the world’s leading journals dedicated to improving cities across the Global South and the Majority World.
Published since 1989, Environment and Urbanization has built an international reputation for publishing high-quality research that informs policy, practice, and academic debate. Successful applicants will work closely with the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED), the Managing Editor, advisory board members, and contributors from around the world.
Although these appointments are voluntary, successful candidates will receive a modest stipend in recognition of their editorial service during an initial five-year term.

- Editor-in-Chief (One Position)

Associate Editor Responsibilities
Environment and Urbanization is also seeking up to two Associate Editors who will support the journal’s editorial programme and peer-review process.

- Coordinating with guest editorial teams
- Working closely with authors during manuscript revisions
- Supporting editorial activities across journal sections
- Leading work on the Feedback section

Associate Editor Requirements
