Environment America, a national network of 30 state environmental organizations, is seeking a Wildlife Campaign Associate to help protect wildlife and preserve critical habitats. The Wildlife Campaign Associate will play a key role in advancing campaigns that address urgent environmental challenges, from protecting mature and old-growth forests to combating invasive species and safeguarding endangered wildlife like the North Atlantic Right Whale. Environment America seeks candidates who are passionate about environmental advocacy, eager to learn, and capable of independently managing projects while collaborating with diverse stakeholders. This role offers hands-on experience in grassroots organizing, public engagement, coalition building, and policy advocacy.

Key Responsibilities

The associate will work on campaigns designed to protect wildlife and habitats by developing public support, building partnerships, and influencing policy. Responsibilities include:

1. Building Coalitions: The associate will reach out to organizations, community groups, and constituents across the political spectrum to demonstrate support for campaign goals, ensuring broad-based backing for conservation initiatives.
2. Organizing Support and Events: They will coordinate webinars, community meetings, public events, and volunteer activities to educate and mobilize the public, helping to amplify the organization’s message and objectives.
3. Media Engagement: The associate will organize media events, write opinion pieces, and leverage social media platforms to generate public attention and increase visibility for campaigns.
4. Lobbying Elected Officials: Engaging with city council members, state legislators, and members of Congress, the associate will advocate for environmental policies, present research-based solutions, and help shape decision-making.
5. Recruiting Volunteers and Team Members: The role involves expanding the campaign team by recruiting volunteers, interns, and potential staff, ensuring campaigns have the necessary manpower and expertise.
6. Managing Grassroots Campaign Offices: During the summer, the associate may manage a campaign office, oversee door-to-door fundraising, coordinate volunteers, and meet fundraising goals to support campaigns. Flexibility to relocate temporarily for summer campaigns may be required.
