Powered by Watson Institute and supported by Western Union, this fully funded 16-week fellowship is designed to equip changemakers with the skills, mentorship, funding opportunities, and networks needed to grow their ventures and strengthen their communities.
The fellowship brings together a diverse cohort of entrepreneurs from around the world who are committed to creating economic opportunities and addressing challenges faced by highly marginalized, refugee, and displaced communities. Through leadership development, entrepreneurship training, mentorship, and practical financial tools, participants gain the support necessary to scale their impact and build sustainable solutions.

Leadership and Entrepreneurship Development

Participants also receive guidance from industry experts, experienced entrepreneurs, and community leaders who provide insights into scaling impact-driven organizations.
The fellowship encourages collaboration among participants, creating opportunities to learn from peers working in different regions and sectors around the world.
Community Impact Through Basecamps
An important component of the fellowship is the Basecamp initiative.
Each Fellow is supported in designing and leading a one-day entrepreneurship training event within their community. These Basecamps help emerging entrepreneurs gain valuable skills while creating a multiplier effect that extends the fellowship’s impact beyond individual participants.
To support these community-building activities, Fellows receive a community development stipend and access to planning resources, training materials, and mentorship.
This approach allows participants to strengthen local entrepreneurial ecosystems while supporting other changemakers serving vulnerable populations.
Pitch Training and Global Exposure
Fellows also receive dedicated pitch coaching and storytelling training designed to help them communicate their vision effectively.
At the end of the program, participants present their ventures during a Virtual Summit attended by entrepreneurs, community leaders, mentors, Western Union representatives, and potential partners. This exposure can create opportunities for collaboration, investment, and future growth.
Who Can Apply?
The fellowship seeks entrepreneurs and community leaders who either:
- Have lived experience within refugee, displaced, or highly marginalized communities; or
- Work directly with and support these populations through their ventures and initiatives.
Applicants should be deeply committed to addressing social and economic challenges affecting underserved communities.
The program particularly values proximate leaders—individuals with close connections and firsthand understanding of the communities they serve.
Business Requirements
Applicants should operate a venture or organization that:
- Has been active for one to five years
- Employs fewer than ten people
- Has demonstrated measurable impact
- Has secured some form of funding through grants, donations, investments, or revenue
- Is ready for growth and expansion
Both nonprofit and for-profit organizations are eligible to apply.
Program Dates
The 2026 fellowship will run from August 11 to December 3, 2026.
Participants must commit to:
- Weekly virtual workshops
- Community-building activities
- Basecamp planning and implementation
- Mentorship opportunities
- Fellowship events and training sessions
The estimated commitment is approximately 8–10 hours per week.

- Philippines (Quezon City)
- Lithuania (Vilnius)
- Argentina (Buenos Aires)
- Italy (Rome)
- Brazil (São Paulo)
- Peru (Lima)
Unfortunately, applicants outside these priority locations are not eligible for this fellowship cycle.
