Head of Campaigns: Lead a National Movement to End Violence Against Women and Girls|Apply by 21 Sept 2026

The End Violence Against Women Coalition (EVAW) is offering an exciting senior opportunity for an experienced campaigns professional to lead its strategic campaigning work to end violence against women and girls (VAWG) in all its forms. The Head of Campaigns role provides an opportunity for an experienced campaigner to influence public debate, shape advocacy strategies, work with senior stakeholders, and help drive meaningful social and political change.
With violence against women and girls receiving unprecedented attention across the UK, EVAW is seeking someone who can help turn increased awareness into sustained action and challenge the systems that allow violence and inequality to continue.
About EVAW
The End Violence Against Women Coalition is a UK-based coalition working to end violence against women and girls and advance gender equality. Its work is grounded in human rights, feminist principles, intersectionality, and anti-racist practice.
The organisation works across campaigning, communications, policy, research, public affairs, and membership to influence decision-makers and build support for long-term change.
The new Head of Campaigns will play an important role in coordinating these areas and ensuring that EVAW’s campaigns are strategic, influential, timely, and effective.
What Does the Head of Campaigns Do?
This is a senior and highly visible position responsible for leading EVAW’s campaigns portfolio.
The successful candidate will develop and lead both planned and reactive campaigns, responding to developments in politics, society, the media, and the wider VAWG landscape.
A key part of the role will be advising EVAW’s Director(s) and working closely with senior colleagues responsible for communications, policy and research, public affairs, and membership.
The position is also strongly public-facing. The Head of Campaigns will represent EVAW in high-level stakeholder environments and in media settings, meaning candidates will need to communicate confidently and persuasively with different audiences.
The role requires someone who can understand complicated issues and turn them into clear, compelling campaign messages that can engage the public and influence decision-makers.
Strategic Campaigning and Adaptability
One of the most important aspects of the position is the ability to balance long-term strategy with rapid responses to current events.
The successful candidate will need to stay closely informed about current affairs, emerging trends, political developments, and public conversations surrounding violence against women and girls.
Campaign priorities can change quickly. Therefore, the Head of Campaigns must be able to recognise when an existing campaign strategy needs to be adapted and make informed decisions about how EVAW should respond.
The organisation is looking for someone who can work effectively under pressure while also knowing when to step back, evaluate progress, and rethink an approach.
This combination of campaigning instinct, strategic thinking, flexibility, and reflection will be central to success in the role.
Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning
The position isn’t solely about launching campaigns. It also involves understanding whether campaigns are actually achieving their intended impact.
The Head of Campaigns will lead on monitoring, evaluation, and learning, helping EVAW assess the effectiveness of its campaigns and interventions.
This means using evidence, feedback, outcomes, and lessons learned to strengthen future campaigns.
The successful candidate will also encourage internal reflection and learning, helping colleagues understand what worked, what did not, and what could be improved.
For professionals with experience in campaign evaluation, advocacy measurement, research, or impact assessment, this aspect of the role could be particularly valuable.
Who Is EVAW Looking For?
EVAW expects applicants to have experience in campaigning, ideally involving violence against women and girls, human rights, equality, or another closely related social-justice issue.
However, the organisation emphasises that experience does not necessarily have to follow a traditional career path.
Relevant experience can come from paid employment, voluntary work, practical campaigning, or academic backgrounds.
What matters is that candidates can demonstrate strong knowledge and understanding of violence against women and girls, alongside the ability to communicate complex issues with clarity and impact.
A strong commitment to intersectional feminism is also important.
The organisation is particularly interested in applicants who genuinely believe in its mission and can demonstrate a strong connection to the work of ending violence against women and girls.
A Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion
EVAW describes itself as an anti-racist, values-centred employer and is seeking to attract a diverse range of candidates.
The organisation welcomes applicants from different backgrounds and encourages people who may not fit a traditional professional profile to consider applying if they have the relevant skills and experience.
EVAW also guarantees an interview for disabled applicants who demonstrate through their application that they meet the essential criteria.
Reasonable adjustments are available for candidates who require them during the recruitment process.
This commitment reflects the organisation’s wider focus on human rights, intersectionality, equality, and anti-racist practice.
Important Eligibility Requirement
There is an important consideration for international applicants.
EVAW states that it can only consider applicants who can demonstrate their right to work in the UK.
Therefore, candidates outside the UK should not assume that this vacancy provides visa sponsorship. Applicants would need to already have the necessary right to work in the United Kingdom.
The interviews will also take place in London, making location and UK work eligibility important considerations.
Application Deadline
Applications must be submitted by 5pm on 21 September 2026.
Shortlisted candidates are expected to be notified during the week commencing 12 October 2026.
Interviews are scheduled to take place in London on 20, 22, and 23 October 2026.
Because the recruitment process is relatively structured and competitive, candidates should prepare their applications carefully and ensure that they provide clear evidence against the requirements.
How to Apply
Applicants are required to submit a CV and responses to four questions on the application form, together with the required equality and diversity monitoring form.
EVAW provides the full job description and person specification alongside the application materials on its website.
The organisation also has a clear policy on the use of artificial intelligence in applications. Candidates may use AI tools to help structure or edit their applications, particularly where this supports accessibility, but information submitted must accurately represent the candidate’s own experience, skills, and understanding.
Candidates will also be expected to participate in interviews independently without using AI tools.
Why This Opportunity Matters
The Head of Campaigns role is more than a conventional communications or marketing position. It is a strategic leadership role within a major UK movement addressing violence against women and girls.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to influence public conversations, support policy and political change, mobilise stakeholders, and help shape campaigns addressing one of the UK’s most significant human-rights and equality challenges.
For an experienced campaigner with a strong understanding of VAWG, human rights, feminism, equality, and advocacy, this role could represent an important next step into senior leadership.
Deadline: 5pm, 21 September 2026.
Location: London, UK
Eligibility: Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
