Role Overview
The Employee Relations Investigation Specialist is responsible for conducting thorough, timely, and high-quality workplace investigations. These investigations may involve serious matters such as harassment, sexual misconduct, grievances, and policy violations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing end-to-end investigation processes, from intake to resolution
- Handling sensitive and high-risk cases with professionalism and confidentiality
- Collaborating with teams such as Internal Audit, Safeguarding, Staff Care, and ERM
- Ensuring investigations follow established procedures and compliance standards
- Contributing to risk mitigation and organizational accountability
Core Responsibilities
The role combines investigative expertise with strategic input and training responsibilities:
Investigation Management
- Conduct detailed investigations into workplace issues
- Plan interviews, assess evidence, and document findings
- Produce clear, actionable investigation reports
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with internal departments to ensure alignment
- Provide guidance and support on investigation processes
- Strengthen oversight and case management systems
Training and Capacity Building
- Deliver training programs (online and in-person) for investigators
- Support development of internal investigation capabilities
Continuous Improvement
- Stay updated on global employee relations trends, especially within INGOs

Requirements and Qualifications
Candidates must demonstrate strong expertise in investigations and employee relations:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Law, Behavioral Sciences, or Organizational Psychology
- 4–5 years of experience conducting workplace or organizational investigations
- Strong analytical and research skills, including evidence assessment and case analysis
- Ability to conduct interviews with sensitive or distressed individuals
- Proven experience writing clear, structured investigation reports
- Knowledge of HR principles, employee relations, and case management systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification or training in workplace investigations (e.g., trauma-informed interviewing)
- Experience designing and delivering training programs
- Fluency in an additional language such as French or Spanish
