Amigos Hospitalito Atitlán (AHA), a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is seeking its first full-time Executive Director. This role provides a unique opportunity to lead fundraising and organizational growth for the Hospitalito Atitlán, a community hospital in Santiago Atitlán, Guatemala. Serving largely the indigenous Tz’utujil Maya population, the hospital relies on AHA to secure funding and support from the United States to sustain high-quality healthcare in this underserved community.

AHA raises funds to support the Hospitalito Atitlán’s operations, enabling access to essential healthcare in a rural Guatemalan setting. The nonprofit is guided by an all-volunteer board of 14 members and is entering a pivotal period of organizational growth. The Executive Director will play a critical role in connecting U.S.-based donors with the hospital’s impactful work, ensuring sustainable support and long-term success.

Key Responsibilities
The Executive Director will lead AHA’s operations and fundraising efforts. Responsibilities include:
Fundraising and Development
- Lead all fundraising activities to grow the donor base and increase annual revenue.
- Identify, cultivate, and solicit new individual and institutional donors.
- Steward relationships with existing supporters and maintain strong donor engagement.
- Design and execute multi-channel annual giving campaigns, year-end appeals, and recurring giving programs.
Donor Communications
- Oversee newsletters, social media, impact reports, and direct donor correspondence.
- Ensure donors understand the hospital’s impact and feel connected to its mission.
- Partner with Hospitalito Atitlán staff to communicate program outcomes effectively.
Board Partnership
- Collaborate with AHA’s Board of Directors to keep them informed and engaged.
- Provide regular reporting and insights on fundraising performance.
- Support board members in contributing meaningfully to fundraising and organizational growth.
Organizational Development and Governance
- Develop systems, processes, and policies to strengthen AHA’s infrastructure.
- Implement donor management systems, communications workflows, and reporting practices.
- Establish best practices for long-term sustainability.
Partnership with Hospitalito Atitlán
- Build strong working relationships with hospital leadership.
- Spend an initial multi-week period on-site in Guatemala to understand operations, culture, and history.
- Conduct semi-annual visits to maintain connections and oversee donor storytelling.
Required Qualifications
Candidates should demonstrate experience and expertise in nonprofit management and fundraising:
- Proven track record in individual donor fundraising and development.
- Professional-level proficiency in Spanish, with the ability to communicate with hospital staff in Guatemala.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a volunteer board.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for storytelling and donor engagement.
- Willingness to travel periodically to Guatemala, including an initial immersive visit.

- Experience living or working in Guatemala or Central America.

Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: USD $80,000–$120,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
